OMC V-8 Outboards...

those always sound good, there's a couple boats at the marina behind the house that have twin V8 Johnsons. One has 300's the other have 275's. wow those 300's sound good when he hits the throttle leaving the marina, then i wait a min to see him return for a fuel refill lol.

Skools, the motors in the video were stated to be 3.5? liter, full race version, pushing 385hp each. The 3.5 liter part may not be exact, but the 385hp was.

I saw a V8 275 last summer, what a monster!! I stood next to it on a trailer and it was as tall as I was from the ground! 6'

Reel:

OMC made V8 in 3.6L and 4.0L over the years. I have a 93 250 V8 (4.0L) hanging from my Aquasport 25CCP. Actually with normal exhaust, vice the offshore version shown, you would be surprised how quite they run.

The motor produces Unbelievable torque!!! and even greater fuel consumption capability than you can imagine. My 250 ( not as ported as the 300 and carb bore are slightly smaller than the 300, still consumes 27-28 Gallons an hour at WOT ( although I get 42 MPH on the GPS in my rig). I understand ( I haven't run mine long enough to form an opinion) that if you keep them feed with gas so they don't lean out ( they have two VRO pumps!!) they are quite reliable. Time will tell

i'd agree good motors never seen one blown up actually they are super hungry, the have 2 sets of V4 carb sets. The 250's had 2 sets of 120 V4 reeds, intakes and carbs the 275's and 300's had 2 sets of 140 V4 reeds, intakes and carbs with the larger thoats. killer motors

I'd like to get ahold of a 300HP from 86 or 87(factory small bore) and then have the 3.5" bore sleeves replaced with the 3.625" bore sleeves. Then have some finger ports installed and run the late model domed pistons. Was told that my 140 small bore would be around 185 if I did this to a V4, could only imagine what it would do to a V8 :o ;D!!

i had a 1986 140 done that way bigger bore doesn't make them have more HP like that just makes them later model style motors, but when we shaved the 1986 heads down 1/4 inch they compression went from 135 ea to 190 each then it ran extremely strong but the starter can't turn them over so i put stock 1990 heads on it back to factory.

just remember

compression / fire / fuel

that is all a 2 stroke needs

make them run that is all makes a 2 stroke stronger so raise all them and you will raise the HP
