Now in the water

I bought my Steplift from an estate. On the way home I made a safety stop to check the trailer - and found a burnt out bearing on the right tire. Had the rig towed to local dealer and bought new trailer. I changed out the spark plugs, fuel filter, added fuel water separator, and changed the gear lube and had new water pump installed. Painted bottom, and did a general all over cleaning and polishing. Dropped it in the water yesterday and several of the guys there said what a good boat it was. A couple said they had one like it once and should never have gotten rid of it. Any way another guy from the club and I took it out for a trial. Doggone that boat flys. Not sure how fast we were going, but my friend who I let drive, was smiling from ear to ear. Turns out he was a former V20 owner and this brought back some memories. He said to me, "You have a gooooood boat here". Naturally I was pleased.

One problem showed itself - at low speed the engine sounds like it missing and there is some vibration. At higher speed it seems to even out. I will go over the the Performance Forum to get some suggestions.

Overall very happy. In the bag of "Stuff" that came with the boat was a Garmin GPSMAP 178C Sounder. Now I need to find out if it works.

Regards to all

If I don't use premium fuel my motor misses. Maybe that or some old fuel? Also I have a Garmin 178C, works great, hopefully you have the chip for the area you fish. You can hook it into your VHF radio if your radio has DSC (can get for less than $150) and it will send out your coords if in an emergency.

Good for you!! Make sure you put all your safety stuff in!! IMO the only reason for a Life preservers is so they can find the body easier!!!!
