Not so much Sun-n-Fun

Lots of Sun After the Storm BAB

WoW.. We just had a major squall line cross over our area. The weather has been crap all day. Multiple tornados. The Sun-n-Fun Fly-In cancelled the air show yesterday because of the weather. Today is much worse. There are reports of people trapped in a tent/hanger at the airport.(kinda sketchy so far) We just had gusts of 75 mph rip thru the lumber yard. Something tells me the flight line at the Fly -In is a mess. Most of those Experimental Aircraft are on the light side and some take flight long before 75 mph. The rain came down so hard here the visability was about 30 feet and dark as night with a tinge of aqua blue in the sky. Wind driven rain went clear through our 80' long building. It even moved the Wellcraft about 20 ft and it was partially protected from the wind. Lightning strikes that I could see were more than one per second nonstop for about 10 minutes. It came up quick, I believe the line is moving at about 40MPH.

that actually made the national news last night....looked like a real humdinger as they say.....one report was 90 mile an hour gusts.....now thats blowin'.

Man, I hate to see planes flipped and damaged like that.. it's just sad. Hope you guys are alright Ridgerunner. I have family in that part of Fla and they were telling me much the same thing you said.. dark/almost black sky, tons of lightning, etc. :head:

i SAW THE RADAR ON THAT SYSTEM MOVIN' THRU YA DOWN THERE...LOOKED nasty FOR SURE...i JUST GLAD YER @$$ WASN'T IN ONE OF THOSE PLANES WHEN IT HIT...(DAMN CAPS LOCK)

Yep Ridge, looks like teh same thing me and my wife saw yesterday. You sure couldn't tell from yesterday that they had just had a can of whoopa$$ opened on em a few days ago.

Ferm, it is a shame we couldn't have met up somewhere over there. Saw the show three days running. The show recovered nicely, the same could not be said for all the damaged aircraft. The Raptor was cool and when the Blue Angels put Fat Albert in the air on Saturday, well my daughter liked Fat Albert Airlines better than the jets.(Less Noise, Go figure) :sly:

the raptor does some unnatural manuvers. teh inverted "falling leaf" thing is insane. Trying to convince myself to take Saturday off and go to the show. I have a ton of stuff to do, and its not going to get done by itself. I'll see how it goes this week

spare,i attended the "gathering of legends and mustangs" here in Ohio a few years back and the raptor gave an amazing show.i've seen alot of different aircraft fly but the things the raptor is capable of is mind boggling.i'll try to post some pics later.
btw,i got to meet and talk with some of the Tuskeegee pilots while i was there.amazing group of men.my father was in the 101st airborne Easy Co.327th/glider infantry from D-day on and they had a display set up there also.i've learned alot about the 101st since then.
