New Members

I've talked to several people that have tried to register for this site, only to find that the stupid "I'm not a robot" security thing doesn't show any photos, so they can't register. What gives? We cannot survive withou8t new blood. People come here and try to join and can't.

i believe it was pointed out in another thread that the site is currently not able to accept new members. IIRC, it has something due to the outdated forum platform and an overwhelming number of spambots hitting it

Yes unfortunately that is the case. Yodaddy reached out to me and is trying to help get it working.

You can tell any potential new member to send me an IM and I will set them up manually. Hopefully something can be done to fix it. I tried several things. \

This is the ugly side of managing a web forum.

:embarsed:

Step, I'm still around, i roll thru from time to time. BR, wea ll appreciate all you've done to keep this site up and running

I hope no one misunderstood me. I was casting no aspersions against BR. Indeed, he and I have talked about the site several times. Simply stating the fact that several people have tried to join and cannot, including several past members who should have no problem getting back in.

.

Yeah I don't understand past members not being able to get in, unless it is just a case of forgetting their password. On the other hand, I completely understand why new folks cannot join and I am hoping something can be done about it sooner than later. If not it doesn't look good.

Blue Runner manually added me, thank you!

I'm inheriting my dad's 1980 V-20 center console. Still has the original Mercury 150hp (though he said he modified it closer to the 200hp version). It hasn't been in the water since 2016, but is such a great boat. He modified it from stock with an extra 30 gallon fuel tank, and added a 1.5 inch lumber piece to the transom to raise the engine- then went from the long shaft to the XL shaft on the lower unit to keep things the same.

Congratulations Bill - It’s really nice to hear about one of these boats getting a new life. It’s sad to see the older generation fading, but it’s a great way to honor them. Being solidly IN the older generation myself, I particularly appreciate that.

Welcome, and it's great to hear about a center console being added to our group. While I do see a few cuddy's like mine around I haven't seen a center console V-20 in my neck of the woods in a long time. Looking forward to hearing more about yours.
