Hi everyone, I just picked up my new (to me) '86 v-20 steplift. She needs a little TLC but I think I can handle it. This forum is very informative, I cant wait to get into this thing. I come from the custom car scene so fiberglass and cleaning is no stranger. I just finished fully rehabbing a 1960 14' Elgin fishing boat. She's better than new now. Then I cam across this. My buddy sold her to me for $800. It has a OB Mercury BlackMax 150 on it and he said she wouldnt run. I pulled the carbs and plugs and gave a good cleaning to them, hooked up my portable 3 gal tank and hose and she fired right up. Ran for about an hour on the susquehanna before I brought her in. Just a test run. I get home to see that a roller from the trailer broke off and the washer gouged the hull about 3' long. Just through the bottom paint, no biggie. Today she'll get a scrubbin' and soon enough she'll have new gauges, seats, electronics, and lighting all over the place. Hope to learn alot from you guys.
