Hello fellow boaters my Name is matt and I have just bought HAVIS'S old boat the 73 V20 with twin 140's. I found HAVIS'S old first post for refrence http://www.wellcraftv20.com/community/showthread.php?t=7504.

When I purchased the boat I took it to a shop that I know the same afternoon and they will be putting a 150hp 1997 evinrude on her and doing away with the 140 gas guzzlers. Hopefully that will eliminate some weight, I will look it over and see if I can just clean up the inside or roll a coat of gelcoat over it when I get it back.

Welcome Matt,

Post up some pictures when you can...we'd like to see some before and afters...I do remember Havis' twin 140s...good luck w/your new toy and keep us posted on what you do with 'er... :train:

Welcome to the site!
Like reel said, PICTURES!
That 150 horse is a little thirsty but about perfect for the boat. Probably between 2 to 2.5 mpg.
A Floscan or Lowrance fuel flow monitor would be fun to play with.

Thanks guys, I will post pics when she comes back from the motor shop. I was going to keep the twin 140's but they need new water jackets :deer: and they are really thirsty I guess thats why Havis installed 2 extra fuel tanks.
I bought the V20 to go fishing at the jetty's and lakes so 2.5 would be great.
Here is a pic of my offshore rig

Nice Cat!!...what ya pushin' that thing with?...had a friend who had a 28' cat w/twin 200 Optis...EXTREMELY fuel efficient and topped out just over 50

Keep the extra tanks Havis had in the V...I had an '86 150 Rude and like tsubaki said...they're GUZZLERS...but perfect power plants for these boats...
