New F 1Fitty In the house

God
Well fellows after a month or more of test driving every new model pick em up from all the makers I finally settled on the replacement for my behemoth Ford F250 Super Duty. For six years she had been reliable as a stone and took me, trailer, boats all over but I was getting tired of the old tech 3/4 ton leaf spring buck board ride and the gas was killing me on trips.
So after some haggling and playing the usual dealership shuffle I came down to this sweetheart I brought home last night
2010 F150 4x4 5.4 xlt with the chrome pkg, tow pkg, conv pkg and basically everything you get in the Lariat without the leather seats which I am not a fan of.

No bigger tires for me, these are the Michelins AT and they are nice for my needs, part of the upgraded tire and wheels pkg.
And I am already a northern redneck.
CB, I will tell you I looked and drove all of them. The closest was the Chevy or GM 1500 in my mind, the ride between the two was to close to call but the build and equipment for the price was not even close. Also when you get inside the cab of the F150 Crew it is like a living room in the back, the seats are fabulous, you can stick your legs out straight. Phenominal sp room for a truck.
The real kicker is it can tow more than my F250, 9800 lbs. due to the power of the new 5.4, I think it has 330 hp.
My friends who have the truck have been getting between 14-20 mpg depending on how they drive with theirs due to the new 6speed trans.
Plus I got 4700 in rebates so this one cost me 31,000 and I got 15,000 for my F250 so I am very happy with how it worked out.
Oh and I got the 6.5 foot bed

Good for you!! CB has been trying to talk me into the new ford, but deep down i am still aGM guy so thats problywere will go? I am looking at end of summer for me.

MJ I know the brand loyalty stuff and understand. But do yourself a favor and drive both, check how equiped for the price you want to pay and especially if your have any adults in the rear. If you do I think you are going to come to the same conclusion. The seats alone, comfort wise is amazing.
The 5.4 is a lot of motor too. Plus for XL size guys the width, leg room and headroom is extrordinary, I know slim svelte fellows like yourself are probably unconcerned about that, but I am just saying!

nice truck and great info....I will be in the market next fall to replace my bare bones silverado work truck with something more comfy and room for the kids in the back....

I had a Ford for a short period and was glad to be rid of it! But I did say that it was much nicer then my Chevy as far as comfort, it was just all the mechanical stuff that killed it, but it was used and who knos what kind of life it had before me??

I will look at all when the time comes. Thanks and Good Luck!

I had the reverse with a GM, MJ.
Check them out, one of the things that separates us from the rest of the world is the love of trucks, all kinds of trucks.
I have had, three Fords, one Toyota, one Nissan, three Chevy's and one Dodge.
They were all great in there own way, one of the Chevies was a POS. New out of the box POS. Two other Chevies were great. All three Fords were great and the Toyota and Nissan were sweet. Sort of tough full size wanna be's but hell for stout and reliable like the sun. If they had the room and capacity of a American truck I would still have the Toyota.
The dodge was like your cousin from the other side of the family and not quite refined but if you needed to beat the hell out of something he would be your first pick.
Blondes, brunettes, red heads, it is all good.

Ya'll want a Ford? I got one for sale, 2003 E150 Van, 108,000 miles. Four of the eight cylinders are dead, no compresion. Happend 2 weeks after I transfered the title to my name from my previous employer(only Ford ever in my name). Swap in a new motor(only cost twice what the van is worth), and you have a pretty dirty van with a lot of money in it. First $500 gets it. Before anyone ask, I'm keeping the tool boxes, and yes, I'm shopping for another Ford van, just trying to find one with a Navistar 7.3 in it rather than 4.6 Triton

Nice truck Willy, I just bought the same truck used a couple of weeks ago even the same color. So far I really like it, the new 6 speed transmission takes some getting used to but Ford hit the nail on the head with the rest of the truck.

My "new" 2008 F250 is only rated for 9600lbs towing. Although I still absolutely love my F250, I probably would have got a F150 if I was able to wait another year or so for those new F150's just for the gas mileage.

And Congrats!!! Gotta Love new toys!!!!
