Mystery no start

I’m asking for my son
He has a 115 2010 Yamaha 4 stroke.
He was out fishing and his engine runs and starts perfect BUT it happened two times. He would go to start it and it would only crank but no start.
He disconnected the kill switch, check for codes and no cod showed up and with the kill switch disconnected it still would only crank but no start. Then after a while she would start and run perfectly again.
What could be going on? No codes and not the kill switch.
Any suggestions would be passed on to m6 son. Thanks guys. What you don’t want is to be in a channel with a boat coming and your motors doesn’t start. Only crank.

IAC, Idle Air control, I think Yamaha calls it an Idle Speed Control. its behind the intake, near the top of the engine. Round object, three screws holding it in place, about 3/4 inch in diameter. See if its getting real hot during use. If it ats up again, tell him to advance the throttle and see if it fires

Will do spare. Thanks for the reply I’m calling him now.
I just talked to my son. It’s a 2003 Yamaha. He told me the part that you’re talking about is point 08 and should be adjusted to 0. Under 1 is the specs. Sorry if I am not to clear on the response but it’s under the spec now. I told him to check to see if it gets hot if it happens again.

hes talking about teh TPS) throttle position sensor, the IAC is near that, a little bigger, has three screws holding it in place. No adjustment. Just fits in place. Its black in color with a triangular flange for the screws

I will talk to him today. Thanks for any help
If you ever locate to N J. Let me know. But I think you’re better off where you are now. Maybe, I will relocate.
I told him what you said.
