I just want to thank everyone on this forum. without you none of this would of ever happened.I bought my boat last October after reading a post on this forum in the boats for sale section. The guy wanted 800 with a trailer. I talked him down to 425 for the hull only. The gas tank had a hole in it and the transom was rotten. But I could easily look past that and see the potential in this boat. I took it home and started ripping it apart. I had never replaced a transom before. But after doing some research on the forum and talking to some people I work with I went for it. I cut out the splashwell, ripped out all the old wood, and epoxyed in 3 new layers of 1/2" plywood. I followed that up with 3 layers of roven woving wetted out with West System. I replaced the shelf in the bilge for the batteries and oil tank. Putting the splashwell back in wasn't too bad. I ground the edges, epoxyed in some plywood strips on the inside then tabbed it in place. I faired everything out,(if I had more patience I would of done done more fairing but its good enough). Primed inside and out then sprayed everything with white Awlgrip. I had never sprayed before and it turned out better than I thought it would. The boat was a great success this summer. Everybody loves it. I've got over 60 hours on it so far.
So this winters project is to replace the soft floor and maybe add a bench seat over the splashwell. I will Keep everyone posted. As of right now the boat is staying in the water untill I catch a bass. After that the next project can start.
