Mixed bag, with a new species

Went out with my wife & daughter looking for Crown Conch. Have seen these little guys crawling around the bay all my life. Had no idea you could eat them. We picked up about 50. cooked em, then cleaned them and fried them. They were great. Taste a lot like squid and Queen Conch. Definately adding them to the menu.

Also picked up 3 crabs and a 24" redfish

this is a shot of the Crown Conch, bout 3"long. the white plug is the muscle you eat, the rest is the foot and guts you throw away.

Oh Yeah, the redfish was excellent, froze the crabs

Phat, now that's a dinner, red fish?, crabs and scungilli (y) (y) (y) - Looks like and sounds like you and the family had a great day, nothing
better - That's what I had Friday for dinner, linguine, scungilli in a red tomato sauce - ENJOY - 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Never heard of Scungilli, looked up the recipe, gonna have to try it. Funny that it’s a traditional Christmas Eve meal. We always have oyster stew on Christmas Eve .

We’re gonna get some more, no harder to clean that scallops or crabs.

Thanks for the scungilli tip

Phat, If you ever feel like having it without going out and getting them, here is the place to go - I use to buy mine fresh from the old time fish stores, when we had them - Boil them, take them of their shells, clean them, then slice them up - Their plant is called LaMonica's, from Brooklyn back in 1923, they are now located in Millville, New Jersey - They do everything at their plant and believe me they make good stuff, they have clams, red and white clam sauce, soups and more, check out their website - I don't know if you can get it in the stores by you, they do deliver, even here it's hard to get after Christmas - So at Christmas I buy 5 cans to last me, they are $19.99 a can in ShopRite, they sell them for $22.99, plus delivery, but around Christmas, they have free delivery - For me it's simple to make, I just put EVO with garlic in the pot, heat it up, toss in a can of plain Cento tomato sauce, parsley, red pepper, rince off the Scungili real good, do not use the juice, toss it over the lingini - Hope you enjoy it when you make it - Sorry for the long book 😂 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸
