Mercury throttle control

Have I got a question for you guys
You all know I have a 1978 wellcraft with a 1988 150 mercury outboard. I own my baby ( boat) for about 30 years
Last year I got a lanyard to attach to my kill switch I never had one before. ( I can hear the yelling now) so I go to my boat and am go8ng to attach it to the switch. And guess what ? I don’t have a kill switch. Nothing. Zilch Nada. Nothing is there. Did you ever hear of a throttle without one? I haven’t. But I have it. Just wanted to share that with you guys.

They weren't very common till the late 90s, don't think they were included as standard till the mid 90s. Aren't required on boats older than 06(IIRC). Smart mo e to have one, easy to wire in

Spare you came thru again. My engine is a 1988 and the throttle too. That explains it thanks spare
Over a year ago I got a warning ticket at Murrell's Inlet SC for not wearing the kill switch lanyard. They said it was a big problem and they are going to start giving tickets, so are now giving warnings just to get the word out. Wonder how that works when your boat/motor doesn't have a kill switch??

Q9. My boat doesn’t have an Engine Cut-Off Switch, do I need to install one?
A9. No, unless the boat was built on or after 1 JAN 2020. The installation requirement applies to manufacturers, distributors and dealers of “covered recreational vessels” after 1 JAN 2020. For those boats, an Engine Cut-Off Switch must be installed and the owner is required to maintain it.
