Mercury 250 EFI Yr 2000

God
Any of you fellows have any input on this motor, approx 700 hrs running very well and strong.
I am not concerned with performance but rather durability, historical problems with year/model etc.
My local mechanic says they are the Chevy 350 TBI of the boat world, simple and strong. My Merc two stroke info is from mid 90's and earlier and that was not pleasant.

they are good motors. Thirsty but good. I think they are some of the best sounding motors out there. The only problem you might have is in the lower unit. They have a problem with corrosion where the water pump bolts to the gearcase. If the lower unit hasn't been replaced yet, remove it and replace the water pump. Before you put the new pump on clean up the corrosion and coat the area with a good sticky gasket sealer to slow down the corrosion. Other than that I think you'll be happy with it.
