There sale ends tomorow so here is a link to there wb site . if any one else is doing this project over the winter .

What are you going to use to cover them? I made my own curtins years ago for my top, not pretty but worked!

I am using tan vinyl I bought the wife a heavy duty SINGER sewing machine last week for her birthday , so she is going to help me out . a lot cheaper than a canvas shop for sure will post photos as we get going on the project

I made a few cushions for the RIB. I used some leftover 18oz material. This was my first try at cushions so I didn't put piping on the edges. After I was done I wish I had because it would have dressed it up some. I used 4" cheap poly foam and #10 coil zippers. That marine stuff is way to pricey.

First pic without foam...

Grey are you making the cushions for the V berth?
That's a little more involved then a square cushions.
Let's see'm when your done.

Joe those curtains you did look pretty darn good. It's not easy to make those patterns then transfer them to clear material.

My Dad was an ace at this kind of stuff. I wish I could have learned more from him. Every time I finish a project I think of him.

sorry to take so long to reply but have had some $$$ setbacks latley.
cut a templat out of taped cardboard , cut the foam with a hot elect. knife my wife statred cutting the vinyl and piping today so its up to her now ! mabey a week I will post more pic's and dim'.s for you guys soon

Capt Chuck,
I believe the foam from Jo Ann's Fabric is open cell.
Yes you are correct it will act like a sponge.
It's not the best stuff to use in a marine environment.
However I cannot find the close cell foam at a reasonable price.

When using the open cell foam I use a waterproof vinyl to cover. I also use seam stick on all my seams and put the zipper inside a folded pocket to keep water intrusion to a minimum. Still not the best but again the $$$ is a big difference.

you are wright , open cell foam . I did coat it with water proofing . and have a light color vinal that I will use , just waiting for the wife to get some time off from work to finish the job . I have stainless steel zippers & they will be coverd. Time is short I am scheduled to put her in the slip on the 25th and still have a few things left to do . hopefuly it will warm up and get dry soon

Go Get'm Grey!
Your ahead of me.
I've still got to service a second heat exchanger and replace thermostats.
Then do all the regular stuff like bottom paint and zinc etc.

Tog season will be starting soon for you guys that like to fish.

Getting pretty crazy down at Moby Dick's marina in Fairhaven yesterday afternoon.

I hear ya inaforty, My wife broke 6 needels trying to do just the pipeing . I think I will need to take my foam and fabric down the road to my friends and pay to have them made . the machine I got the wife isn't powerful enough for the job , DAM another week wasted ! sumer flounder opens may 1! BEEN A LONG unproductive winter

well my back is feelin better so I went to get my cuddy cushions today . They came out great , perfecy fit with all SS zippers total cost $218 . Mot bad for the workmanship they did. Now mabey I can get her in the slip by JUNE 4 ??

Look great!
Honestly that is a super fair price for the labor.
Believe me it is not easy to do even with the right machine.

Hope you are feeling better Greywolf.
