Yes it is true that Mj is no longer with us. Monday night I got a call from the hospital that his time was coming. My brother and I were there. I held his hand as he took his last breath.

As I try to navigate all my emotions, I wanted to come on here and say thank you.

So many of you became life long friends of my father and have been beyond amazing to our family. As a kid my father would brag so much about this site, was always so proud wearing his wellcraft stuff.

Mj will be cremated but in honor of his love for fishing and all of you, he will be dressed with a WellcraftV20 hat, shirt and sweatshirt to head off to heaven.

Mj did not have the chance to teach his grandchildren how to fish. But we started a few years ago. We are still simply fresh water ponds but I sure do hope that someday my kids will be able to go on a boat and feel the joy that their Papa has always held in his heart.

I truly cannot thank you all enough for your friendship.

Scupgirl,

Along with everyone else on here who knew him, I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. MJ was a cool guy and I know all of the members of this site enjoyed following his fishing shenanigans, boat builds, his general great sense of humor, and let's not forget - his take no crap attitude (when appropriate) - I definitely did.

MJ and your whole family has been through so much. My hope is that you and the rest of your family are at peace know he is no longer suffering and that he will always be with each one of you.

God bless you all.

Great pictures, I know ya ll will miss him. Glad he was flying his colors when u sent him off.

I spoke to him a few times on the phone dealing with shirts, hats, etc. Always great to have a conversation with him especially about fishing. He knew i m in Florida and he talked about a trip he took to the keys and fished the Dry Tortugas.

Get those kids fishing, definitely in their DNA.

I never let him but he was part of this wellcraft family. So sorry to hear that he is no longer with us on earth but I’m sure he is looking down from heaven watching over all of us .
A reel wellcraft lover. R.I.P our friend

Hi Scupgirl,

Being on the west coast, I’m not as connected with the community as I’d like - too far away to meet, different fish, different ocean, etc., but there’s a brother/sisterhood that your dad watched over and nurtured that’s a really special thing.

Thank you for your generosity keeping us informed about how your Pop was doing when he was having bad times.

I’m with the other guys, wishing you and your family comfort now and very best wishes in the future and what Phatdaddy said - get those young guys in a boat and out fishing.

Scott

Thank you for taking care of him and being there for him, Scupgirl. A loving family sure is a blessing.

We all pray for God to bless you and your family and grant you peace.
