Lost Year

In 2019 boat was winterized and put away for the season with half of tank of gas. (20 gal.)

Only 3 hours of usage in 2019.

New impeller installed and motor oil changed in the beginning of 2019.

In 2020 boat did not see water and not started. A few minor upgrades were done (changed glass fuse box out, new bilge pump, along with new VHF antenna).

Here's my questions:

1. For this year 2021 what's the best way to drain out the old gas? (20 gal) After draining out the old gas and filling with new gas (60 gal tank) should I also add a can of Sea Foam?

2. Can I run the boat in a large tank of water in my driveway to make sure everything is running correctly and no over heating? I would also like to make sure everything is shifting correctly before the boat see's the bay.

Boat:
20' CC
Mercruiser Alpha One 4cyl
3.7 165 horsepower

Has the gas gone bad?

If not, add some fresh and enjoy.

Been a long time since I operated an I/O, but you should be able to run it in the driveway with muffs and a hose.

Was the fuel non ethanol? If not, I would definitely drain it and dispose of it. If it was, drain and keep to run in lawn mower.

Should be able to siphon out through fuel line going to engine.

Sea foam won t harm anything, but probably won t cure anything.

My boat had gas in it since 2017. When I ran it last year, it ran flawless. This was ethanol fuel with Startron and stabil in it. I***8217;m running a 98 200 Johnson carbed engine.
