after 8 years of hard work and 182,000 miles I traded in my old truck for something a little newer. So I got a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. She's got a Hemi,6-speed manual gearbox, 4.10 gears with a limited slip diff. Its got a lot more power than the old 360 I had in the other truck. The gas mileage is better too.

thanks guys. Phat.. I have been a mopar fan my whole life. I started with a 68 DartGT then a 66 Charger then I got into trucks so I had an83 pickup with 35" tires then an 87 Ramcharger then my 99 Ram and now this. In between I had various vw's also. so for me its mopar or no car...unless its a VW

i had a 72 dodge van slant 6 w 3 on the tree, 76 dodge van with 4 on the floor, then a 64 dodge PU with a slant 6, then a 82 van with a 318 and finally an automatic. then a 87 PU with a 318 , put over 300,000 on it. now i've got a 96 with a 5.9 with over 225,000 on it. they make great work trucks, cause you can get them cheap and they last forever. down side is the gas mileage and resale.

thats true. Hows the tranny on your 96. I put three in my 99. Thats why this one has a manual. And I gave up snowplowing.

on my second one, first one at 112,000 and got 113 on this one. i'm keeping my eye out for a late 90's diesel.

was your other one a 4 door?

DODGE uses a completely different trans now than your 99 did, and they have proven VERY reliable(probably more so than some of DODGES manuals in there gassers). Nice truck though, now get some pics of it hooked to the boat earning it's keep.

Phat.. Yes it was a quad cab 2500. It had the funky back doors that could only open after the front doors were opened. Ferm.. I enjoy driving a stick shift. Since I took my VW off the road for a while I figured this is the next best thing. For piece of mind I extended the bumper to bumper warranty to 78,000 miles. It will start earning its keep this week. I have several boats to launch in the next 2 weeks and on May 1 I have to haul one up to Canada.

HEY!... that thing got a HEMI!

Sorry couldn't resist!

Nice looking truck!

Nice truck.....good luck with it....how'd the salvage business make out with our monster nor'easter 2 weeks ago.....noticed you werent online much the 10 days or so after...figured you guys might have been slammed with work.

not really much from that storm. But we got a ton of work from all them snow storms. I've just been busy the past few weeks. Finding this truck being one and finding a new place to live being another. My lease is up soon and we wanted to find something a little cheaper to rent. This weekend I will be moving. After that things should settle down just in time for work to really get crazy.

Inaforty... thats funny you posted that 'cause I kept repeating the same thing in my head as I was test driving it. They were funny commercials.:you:

Those ads were great!

Wish my truck had that quad cab.

We made our first long tow trip last summer. The dog drove me nuts in that in that reg cab.

I've had her for about 6 weeks now and it seems to be working out great. I put almost 5000 miles on it already. I hauled a 26 sailfish to Norwalk CT, a 25 stingray to Ontario Canada, 2 19 stingrays to wildwood, and a few local launches. She hasn't skipped a beat and there is no shortage of power. I think a set of Flowmasters is in the near future though. Its just a little too quiet for me.
