Load rite trailer rollers

I need to replace quite a few rollers on my 85 loadrite trailer. The rollers are 4 3/4 diameter by 3 1/2 wide. All of the less expensive rollers Ive found were 3" wide. Can I use the cheaper rollers or do I ned to get the specific 3 1/2" loadrite rollers?
 
wow I am redoing the rollers on my 86 as we speak.....I just placed my order for replacement rollers from http://trailerpartsdepot.com/items.asp?Cc=A%2DROLLB&iTpStatus=0&Tp=&Bc== I'm going super cheap and getting the factory blemished ones.....

I cant see a reason why the 3" would be a problem, the bearing surface on the black rubber rollers on the spindle itself is only 1 1/2" and the rest overhangs so the only difference is that the boat now sits on 3" wide rollers instead of 3 1/2" which I cant seem to reason why it would matter.

At least thats what I hope because I have 24 coming shortly.!!
 
Thats a great price on the rollers. The description says they fit loadrite trailers. I'll have to take a look at my washers and hog rings tomorrow to see if i can reuse them since they aren't cheap. I thought I read somewhere that you could use cotter pins instead of the hog rings (might have to do some drilling) If the hardware is shot I may go with this kit that includes the hardware http://www.boatbandit.com/ribbed-roller-kit-4885.aspx
The cheapest I could find the hardware was around $5 for each roller. That brings me to $226 whereas the kit above would be $180.
 
Make sure your 85 load rite will handle the wider bearing area before you buy the rollers, mine is an 84 and it would only take the narrow bearing area rollers. Here is a link to a post I did when I replaced my rollers. http://wellcraftv20.com/community/showthread.php?t=4764

My advise would be not to go cheap since you dont want to do this again any time soon. An extra $50 now could save you a lot of trouble and time later.

and don't buy black rollers they don't last, buy the yellow ones, pay the extra and they will out last the boat.​
 
I wound up buying the kit with the black rollers. They seem to be good quality although the hardware is only zinc coated. The boats in a slip so I wont be using the trailer that much anyway. The old black rollers were the originals from 85 and were starting to crack. Next up its time for new bearings. This stuffs pretty easy with the boat in the water.
 
I rehabed my 1986 Load-Rite trailer two years ago. I guess born on dates that we are talking about says something about the longevity of these trailers.

Local price was actually higher because of some rule that they had with their dealers and/or manufacturers but the kid at the counter helped me out so much that it was worth it.

The funny thing was that before I replaced my retaining rings I lost a few rollers at the launch ramp and in the process of recovering them (diving) my kids found about 6 extra Load-Rite rollers and a handful of other brand rollers that someone else had lost.
