liner/hull seperation

hey guys long time no post and my search powers are weak. Did anyone ever separate the hull from the liner before on a cuddy? My stringers are pretty weak it seems and i need to add some knees and strength to the transom. It would also allow me to fix the soft deck in the front and the floor in some spots.

"Up and hard right" - Good to see you posting. Hope you have been well. What year you talking about? The older hulls are 3 pieces, newer hulls are 2 pieces best I can tell, no experience pulling the liner on the cuddy although I did pull it on my center. For the two piece variety(hull and single piece liner), Lots of screws under the rubrail that is attached with lots more screws. Then the caulk between the liner and hull needs to be cut/seperated, much if not all of the rigging removed including the motor, floor/fuel tank hatches depending on model year. Then you may gain limited access to the stringers, if it is like my 83 center the liner is bonded to the top of the stringers with some sort of bonding putty which actually glues the floor to the top of the stringers. Fuel fill and vent hoses need to be removed then hoist away. Wedges can be driven inbetween the liner floor and top of the stringers to help aid in the release.
If it is the three piece variety ( two piece liner plus hull) I have yet to figure that out. There is a 74 model sitting in the yard and I have looked it over yet I still don't know how it comes apart, it does not appear that the inner sides and floor are joined with the gunnels. ???

Ridge is right...as usual...we need to know (remind us) what year model your V is and whether cuddy or CC...and on Ridge's '74...we may NEVER know...:hi:

actually Shrek a member here hooked me up with a newer model hull. He went above and beyond in helping me get the boat on my trailer and home. It's a 1989 center console and I want to replace the stringers and transom. Also would It be a good idea to replace all that on my roller trailer or should I find some way to set the boat on some bunks?

I have a 1975 cuddy converted to a cc opened up right now as we speak. I can take all the pics you need to find out how to seperate the liner.

I had a 1983 V20 that we took a part and it was pretty easy. AS RR said you need to remove all the stuff holding them together and the my liner popped out without any issues. They do use something to bond the stringers to the liner but that was not much of an issue with seperating the two. Good luck.

thanks guys. I usually have some time scheduled off during christmas/new years that i can do the seperation. i will post pics while im at it.
