Leaning post

My fisherman 18 came with two pedestal seats which were inconvenient at best. When sitting, you couldn't see where you were going, when standing it wasn't very comfortable.

I built this leaning post using electrical conduit (which is light and cheap) and my trusty MIG from Harbor freight.

Here are some pics.

After a bit of sanding my crappy welds and a few coats of West Marine topside, here is the finished product.

I also made the cushion and cover. I has some vinyl left over and I gave my sewing skills a workout. The cushion isn't perfect but it works.

VERY nice job. It looks well thought out and probably will last longer than a "store bought". MIG and TIG are my two favorite kinds of welding. I have to admit I'd never try something like that, even though I can weld fairly well. Well Done!!!!!

Thanks guys, I am pretty happy with it. I have about $50 in it not including the $35 for the paint which I am using to spray several things anyways.

About two years ago I made the T-top from my boat also. It turned out O.K. but I will be re-doing it this year with some beefier tubing. There is just a bit too much flex in it for me.

I have a custom T-top with lots of wiggle. Don't sell yourself short, your work looks great.
