So 4 of us went to Conch Key just off Long Key Brdige for the week. Location couldn't have been better!!!! Punch in my Lobster holes and they were a whoppin 1.6mi from our location. We could lobster all day on 2.2g's of go-juice, pretty damn sweet!!!!!
Only got delayed for a total of 8hrs over three days so not too bad. We spent our divided between lobstering, spearing and fishin. We spent the first few days at the bug holes and moved out to spear in the afternoon. Hogfish were everywhere and I gave chase to a nice 10-15lb Gag but never caught up to em.
We set up one afternoon around 5pm and fished till dark and caught just about everything in the sea including a hot catfish bite.
We made it offshore to the hump on Thurs. afternoon and stopped by a Bamboo pole to see what was up. It was holdin a nice Tripletail and a few Wee-Hoo and dolphin. We caught a few and continued on out to find the Tuna were just as thick as the Tigers lurkin below them. After 12 hookups we had one whole Tuna to show for it. One Tiger took my Tuna, well half of it, about 15' behind the boat with an amazing shower of water and blood. Simply incredible and frustrating to boot!!!!! Came back at dark:30 and had fresh Hogfish and Tuna sushi.
We wrapped up the trip with another Lobster run before comin back and got our 4-man limit before washin and pullin out the Guale Girl.
Hard to pick a best part of the trip but I would have to say it was Pate swimmin around takin a liquid crap (just couldn't hold it any longer) and the horde of Chubs all to eager to clean it up for em at close range while he swatted at em in an attempt to finish his task. When he got to the boat I asked him what it was like to have a Chub nibble his a-hole....his brother replied with, "Well,.....you know what a symbiotic relationship is????" I couldnt stop laughing.........
Totals:
57 Lobster
50 Hogfish
35+- Mangroves
Gags
3 Reds
Blacks
Mutton
Blue Flounder
Blackfin Tuna
Wahoo(Wee-Hoo)
Tripletail
Porgies
Hinds
Yellowtails
