No more hounding you guys for pre-purchase advice ...
...now it'll be on refurbishing advice.
I already requested the Honorable Mr. Shrimpin do the gallery thing for me, so I shot a bunch of pics before it got dark to get my album started.
Deal went smoothly. Seller was very easy to work with and checked out the trailer, supplied the brand new bimini that he hadn't gotten around to installing, and gave me the old flywheel as requested. Flywheel's fine, it does need a magnet-job, so with any luck, the repair won't hit the wallet too hard. She photographs well, so it's hard to see the work that needs to be done, but it should be well within the skillset of a newbie renovator.
Trailer is a '99 Escort that towed very well. The seller wasn't sure of the make and year, but it's a bonus that it's not that old. Tires need replacing as they're cracked, but held pressure and tracked straight all the way home. Bearings were cool to the touch after 6 miles and after 60+.
The first Step' (get it? :
) was a doozy, but I'm glad to finally have made it. I look forward to pouring my energies and passion into it as so many of you have and hopefully the results will come close to the quality that I see in your boats.
