No more hounding you guys for pre-purchase advice ...

...now it'll be on refurbishing advice. ;)

I already requested the Honorable Mr. Shrimpin do the gallery thing for me, so I shot a bunch of pics before it got dark to get my album started.

Deal went smoothly. Seller was very easy to work with and checked out the trailer, supplied the brand new bimini that he hadn't gotten around to installing, and gave me the old flywheel as requested. Flywheel's fine, it does need a magnet-job, so with any luck, the repair won't hit the wallet too hard. She photographs well, so it's hard to see the work that needs to be done, but it should be well within the skillset of a newbie renovator.

Trailer is a '99 Escort that towed very well. The seller wasn't sure of the make and year, but it's a bonus that it's not that old. Tires need replacing as they're cracked, but held pressure and tracked straight all the way home. Bearings were cool to the touch after 6 miles and after 60+.

The first Step' (get it? ::) ) was a doozy, but I'm glad to finally have made it. I look forward to pouring my energies and passion into it as so many of you have and hopefully the results will come close to the quality that I see in your boats.

Chesapeake, She looks great. I've enjoyed reading about the journey involving your purchase.Looks like it was worth the wait
I'm on Thomas Point. Where are you on the Bay?

Re: It's official.  She's home.

Thanks, CB.

S-R,
I'm actually in Pennsylvania, 30mi. West of Philly.  I usually fish up and down the Delmarva peninsula, from North East, MD down to Cape Charles, VA and over on Delaware Bay on occasion.  If I had a 'home port' on the Chesapeake, I'd say, Rock Hall.

Edit - S-R, are you on TidalFish? I was "huskyjerk517" on WWA and am now just "H.J."

Re: It's official.  She's home.

Congratulations! :)

She sure looks sweet with her naked bottom. :D

Chesapeake - Your gallery is ready!! That's a great looking boat!! The decals still look mint (yeah I know they're not a structural or mechanical component of the boat), but they are usually a decent indicator of the amount of use that the boat has seen. What are your plans for the engine?

Pics are posted to my album, everybody. Thanks for the kind words.

BS,
Thanks for the gallery! 8) I'm taking it to the shop this weekend, and will have them give the motor a good inspection to generate a punch list of repairs. We'll see if I can get as lucky w/ the motor as I did with the hull and the trailer. Hopefully it'll be a trifecta. ;)

Re: It's official.  She's home.

She looks real good!! Just a few things and you will off and running!! The teak does look good!!

I hate keeping up with the teak myself!! so I have been replacing it all with starboard! It almost all gone and whats left will be gone in short order!!

Re: It's official.  She's home.

Boat looks great. I have the same glue mess on my starboard hatch from a cutting board. I plan on removing it w/acetone. I wonder if that was an option!
