Ice covered Wellcraft

v1So.. I put the boat away for the winter and stored it at a place who was going to store the boat inside for the winter…. Best laid plans I guess, the boat never made it inside and was completely snowed in. We had 3 feet of snow that melted and snowed back in. When I put the boat away I put a 2x4 from the windshield to the stern. I had so much ice buildup it popped the windshield, I mean completely exploded all over the dash.
So now I am going to make lemonade out of lemons and see if I can make a walk through windshield. Any one have any suggestions or experience with this?
LOL, this time I will take all advice and not cry about it, promise.

Sorry about your windshield, ... However, I'm a tad confused. :head: V20's already have a walk thru windshield. The center window pane is on a hinge and opens to the port side of the boat.

Don't be sorry, it was completely my fault. I had 400lb of ice pressing on the windshield. My boat is a 1982 wellcraft suncruiser 255. Worst case I just replace the glass, my guess is safety glass will cost about $140, the glass needed to be replaced before I broke it.

You people in here seem to have lots of experience and ideas. The biggest boat I had before this one was a 8ft hydro with a 10 hp on the back. I could just touch 25 mph, for a young kid I was breaking the sound barrier. I was the fasted boat on the lake (for my size).I built it myself when I was 14.

FWIW I didn't say "small boat" I said "small cruiser" 25' is only a few feet shy of my biggest boat which at 28' (33' overall) is also a "small cruiser".

Generally 25' is the smallest common size for a cruiser and they go 50'+ ... At some point they start getting called yachts instead.

Most similar boats under 25' are cuddy's

he doesn't have a V20 he has a small cruiser

Oops... You're right. For some reason I thought he also had a V20.

Roffey, there are several places the make windshields out of plexiglass. You just need to bring them the frame and they will duplicate whatever you had. I know there's one near me, just can't seem to remember their name right now. I'll get back to you on it.
