Brought my 1987 V-20 home today. Boat is in amazing structural shape. Transom is solid, with the original aluminum cap completely in tact with no broken rivets. Deck is solid too. Boat is absolutely filthy. But the dirt cleans right up...all the teak will have to be done. As well as a new seat. But motor starts right up, and supposedly has very few hours on a fresh re-build. Has a full Bimini with the glass in front..looks like it was never used..and a Full mooring cover..this too looks like it was never on the boat.
Bottom has only a couple of layers of paint on it.

I have been looking all over for one, looked at many.

Won this on E-Bay...not bad for 2K with the year 2000 trailer included. Patience and hours on the internet do pay off. :sun:

I look forward to learning lots of things from you guys. I have had many boats...love finding them and fixing them back to excellent shape.

Will post some photos of how she cleans up...
Here are some exterior...you dont want to see how the inside looked...think super dirty..and then double it.

Welcome to the site.

The outside certainly looks nice and does sound like a great buy!

A picture of the inside would be interesting to see so we can view the before and after!

Best of luck

Hi
Welcome to the site. Great looking boat... I love eBay and Craigslist. Got my boat off of eBay also... took almost 6 months to get the one I wanted, but worth every minute of hunting. Looking forward to seeing some before and after shots.

Welcome to the site!!
DANG, first post, pictures and all, you sure are spoiling us!
More pictures are gonna be expected.
Congratulations on the new baby.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Someone asked for some interior photos. Believe me the photos make it look better than it was. This boat has not seen soap in years. In one way..I think the dirt protected the gel coat, sure comes up nice.

The bees nest count is at 21...still probably more!

The motor did not even have a ding in it anywhere...just needed to be sanded..primed and painted.

Now here are some photos after the first day of clean up.

The rubrail rope is back white...

Motor was sanded, primed, and the first two coats are on. Will get another when the top end is done..it needs no sanding.

I have to make some under the gunnel inserts for the rod holders, bottom is gonna be Blue. Fill in the zillion holes, new snap mounts. Should be good to go.

Those before and after pics sure do tell a story don't they! I too am partial to my 87, and I believe you are at the start of a long love affair with this one! Keep us updated with your progress and your adventures with it! Welcome Aboard!!!!
:beer::clap:

Way to go Kern!!...what a great lookin V for 2Gs...wish I had more patience...glad ya worked up the stones to post interior before shots...LOL!!...it really tells the whole story...you're doin it RIGHT!!...she gonna be a real showboat soon at this pace

One suggestion...on that model those transom hatch-lids are great and to keep them that way, install lid supports so they don't fold all the way back over the stern cleats...I've noticed over the years this has lead to some busted, scratched and even lost lids...

One other thing...you might wanna consider stickin a new water pump in there before venturing off too far...that foot didn't get scratched up like that draggin' it thru baby powder...LOL!!...

Keep the pics comin on your new love!!...

OK...So I got the boat for 2K on E-bay..put many many hours this last month and $2000 more into it.
By the way..if anyone is looking for the deck drain hoses..which had a elbow molded into them. There is one available at a Auto part store, that has elbows on both ends. One end is absolutely perfect..the other is good. Just cut it down the middle..fine tune the exact length you need, and your good to go. It is 1" inside diameter. If anyone needs the number..let me know, the sticker tag is still on the hose.
