when I was growing up, we had a "merry-go-round" that my fatehr built. It had the spindle froma 53 chevy mounted vertically with the hub still on, he took a 2X12X14 and mounted it on the hub like a big propeller, we had handles made from 2X4s on each end to grab on to, we'd get one person on one side holding on, then one on the other pushing(it got better when the pusher moved in to the center, giving them better leverage), when it got spinning good, we would let go, flying inot a pile of pine straw we had piuled up. My father allways said, "if you fall off, just keep your head down till the thiing stopped spinning". Funny thing is, afetr all the neighborhood kids played on that thing, no one ever got hurt, today, it would be a legal nightmare. I think we were smarter than the kids today, at least in common sense
