Hydrolocked

when u injest water into a cylinder while running, motor can't compress it and locks up. like when cars run through deep water or straight inboards back down real hard and water runs up the exhaust and into the cyl.

i think, that's what it means to me. usually pretty catastrophic, bent rods and valve train.

Hydrolocked or hydrauliced is when the cylinder gets liquid in it.
Liquid does not compress and thus it locks the engine...
Fixing it can be as simple as removing spark plugs and cranking OR it can require major repairs... If water was ingested by a running engine it can do extensive damage to rods, pistons, rings, even crank...

Example my 7.3 Powerstroke had an injector fail and was allowing way too much fuel to enter #7 cylinder.... All the rings on that piston got shattered and the cylinder and piston got scored... That rod bearing was also damaged... I replaced the motor....

A buddy drove through high water and killed his chevy 305... The rod on one cylinder got bent.

I sank a jetski after hitting a rock at high speed but I killed it as soon as the engine was a out to go under... Pulled the plugs and cranked it over with throttle held open till water was expelled.... Replaced plugs and fired it up with no damage.

Morning all, what exactly is Hydrolocked? How can it happen and how do you fix it????

either your manifolds/risers are bad or the engine dieseled and ran backwards. Pull your plugs, spin the motor over to expel the water. If it was salt water, and its been a couple days, don't waste your time, pull your motor out, replace with a new one

Well that's pretty much what I figured. And it did not happen to me, but it did happen to one of the engines on an Amberjack I'm thinking of buying,

One of my customers down here has a AJ with a dead 6.2 Mercruiser in it. He's had it for sale and we just found out its got motor issues. I think he's going to sell as is. It's listed on Intracoastal yachts Web site if your interested. BTW the Web price does not reflect the asking price since the engine damage was discovered
