How to secure panel

I have to remove my deck panel that covers my fuel tank. I have to check to see what is leaking. I have to secure the panel back on but the screws are stripped. What would be there best way to do it ? Plastic inserts? Or treated wood glued to the underside? What would you guys recommend?

Both sounds good. The starboard / wood strips and marine Tex. Is the marine Tex going to hold and the strip wood will hold but marinetex is probably easier.
Spareparts, is great having you back with us. You said blocks of wood/starboard and secured to the underside with adhesive caulk ?

Bout the only thing to bond starboard with is West System G-Flex. You also need to flame the starboard before u apply the G-flex. Easy to do

Thanks phat I will check into that
I will probably start that I’m mid match I can’t do anything until I fix that problem with the gas leaking. Can’t even put the battery’s in. I am so lucky that my boat didn't go on fire ,cause I think I had this problem for a while.
I remember I got gas about a year or longer ago and I thought I smelled gas but didn’t really pay to much attention to it cause the smell went away. That could have been a disaster that’s why I love my boat, she takes care of me.

Just curious, do you think 3m 5200 would work also ? With treated wood? Or starboard?
It***8217;s not 5hat I***8217;m cheap but 5200 can be smeared on and clamped

If i remember right, the stringers are very close to the edge of the opening of the tank cavity. Might be able to mechanically screw the starboard to them and the tank cover rest on the starboard. Then screws go into starboard.

Phatdaddy I was wondering if the stringers are very close the the hatch/panel opening. That’s why I’m going to wait till I remove the panel
I always like to fabricate what I THINK I need then when I go to install it,it doesn’t fit. I always jump the gun but I’m going to wait till I take the panel off so I can see exactly what i need. This is one time I wish I had my boat home.
But like you said, maybe I can screw it to the side of the stringer. That would be better. But one thing for sure. I can’t do anything till I fix the fuel issue
