Hey Spare Skools Ferm

willy

God
When I closed up for the winter had this thing doing a slight drip of fuel that seemed to be coming from the little gasket area or somewhere near there when I primed the engine and even after it ran a little. I think by looking at it, it might have something to do with my choke and or fuel/oil mix but I don't really know.
So what the H@ll is it, is it repairable or a replace situation? And what is the little red lever on it?

Oh yea I forgot, 96 I believe 200 evinrude, though you guys would know by just looking at that part I am sure.

enriching valve, the red lever allows you to inriching the fuel mix(chokeing the engine) when starting. Teh top of the cap usually gets a small crack in it, you can buy the top portion only. If you need one, let me know, I'll get you a price monday

Back when I decarbed my old Rude 150, tech told me to turn that red lever straight up, remove that cap and that's where the can of decarb screws on...run across the water WOT while holding can open...then turn red lever back to original position...half the can went into the motor the night before...

Yep, it's for spraying fuel into the intake for cold starts. If you lose power or the solonoid fails you can turn the red lever and manually prime the engine. Also you can use the valve in the end of it for fogging or using engine tuner as it will allow you to spray it into all 6 cylinders at the same time.

0341071 is for the cover and lists for $7.96 from EVINRUDE. 0341297 is for teh gasket and lists for $8.96 from EVINRUDE. I believe the aftermarket sells them as a kit for about $12 though.

So I went on line to try and order the parts and found a exploded diagram, looks like I may need the rebuild kit and it also looks like there is a O ring in there, don't know if that would be part of the kit but I suspect that is what is actually leaking if I had to guess.
Tried to find the kit with a description (to check on the ring) but can't find it.
Spare Ferm do you know where I can order that directly?

Theres no O-ring in there that I could find in teh diagrams. The kit number is 0437228 but ti appears to be obsolete from BRP, but the SIERRA number is 18-0993 and can be found for around $10-12 online.

If you're talking about the red valve when you say stem, it will pull straight out if you grip it firmly and tug. Let me know if you need that o-ring, I have a few extra and can get you one for 44 cents.

I don't know awthacker, $.44 sounds a little steep. Beware Willy, I think he is trying to swindle the ol WOR!

Seriously, good thread. I've seen that red valve before and wondered myself what it was for. Good luck on a cheap fix bud. Don't get too many of those "cheap" fixes.

If you want to lube an o-ring to make it easier to slide on, give it a squirt of WD-40. (Yet another one of the 2000+ uses covered on their website)

Thanks for the offer on the O ring, but to be safe I ordered that full kit with the new cap, valve and gasket to re-do the whole top from the site Skools posted.
You say the red stem just pulls straight out ?

It does... I took a bunch of screws out before I realized it just pulled out. Grip it with some pliers and pull on it.
