I came across a 1/16 "thick piece of stainless steel 18" wide X 48" long with a folded 3/4 " lip on both side's , I want to make a fish cleaning station out of it . I have 3/4" birch plywood which I want to mount it too , what is the best adheasive to use for this project ?? I was thinking contact cement or 5200 ?? any tips thanks

Most any construction grade adhesive will stick to stainless, but really, a mechanical fastener is a better choice. Drill, countersink and use flat head stainless screws would be the way I'd do it.

Since you have the folded 3/4 lip I would drill in from the sides, that way you'll have a smooth, easily cleaned surface up top. Coat the underside with adhesive, marry it to the plywood, and then put in the side screws.

And lastly, not to throw cold water on what sounds like a really nice project, but steel or any kind is not very forgiving to a knife blade. Nothing will dull a sharp blade faster than a few contacts with hard steel. That's why quality cutting boards are made out of wood or nylon. Just something to consider. :head:
