Glass Replacement

Hello, New Guy here(Southest Florida), Yesterday while installing new Windshield struts, I

shattered the Port Window...it's an 82 V20...I tried researching old threads

first...but most of the links are now bad. The surplus shop in Ft Pierce is on

Vacation for 2 Weeks, and I want real glass with a very slight tint not Lexan.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you cant find a used windshield or glass for it, a local glass shop can help.
I used a local window glass shop here. They also do old cars, boats, etc. they advised tempered glass is not allowed on windshields anymore, just on side glass. They used laminated glass with the tint in the plastic mid-layer for my V. ( I trimmed my windshield height so it would fit in the garage, it was all tempered glass, couldn't be cut, so I needed all new glass)
Call around. It should be cheaper if you take the frame in to them and leave it. Cheaper still, if you are sure of the dimensions and just ask for the glass cut to size, and install it completely yourself. re: dimensions: places in the frame for screws and rivets cannot have glass or rubber in them.

Picked up replacement(laminated) Glass for $102 with a slight tint . Monroe County Glass, and they were a pleasure to deal with.

I wasn't sure of the thickness or color, so they sent Me out into the shop, and gave me two samples, I took them to the Marina and matched the glass to the original, went back and they cut it for me...

Once again, a pleasure to work with Folks who don't give you grief while You're trying to give them money( happens a lot down here):news:

Hey Bobcat, great!
don't put any torque on the glass or frame when you install it. (raising or adjusting windshield supports) let the frame lay where it wants to. I pushed too hard and cracked one. Cheers, Tom

Take some pics if possible, I need to redo mine, but am scared to touch it. Where do you start taking it apart?

I guess we know what the KW means now

Welcome !!
