Floor drains

...hi everybody!!....can anybody tell me where the floor locker drains to, mine just fills up when I wash the deck?....
thanks

Assuming it is like most, the floor locker drains to the bilge and then through a pvc pipe that goes under the gas tank and transfers it to the bilge in the stern of the boat. you may be able to snake it from the back. Do a search for rebuilds on here and you will see many pics of your boat with not floor and gas tank removed. It will become much clearer once you see a picture.

not typical to all years but this should give you an idea of what I am talking about.

There should be a drain hole at the back end of the box. Might be a plug in it.. Then when it drains, it drains into the bilge.

after I replaced my gas tank and re foamed it in . I put a brass drain plug in and instaled a 500 gph bilge pump so no more water goes under the tank to rot out the foam and tank

I think this a good solution...get most water out w/a pump and the little that's left over can drain into the bilge...

...yeah that makes sense....it drains quite slowly, so slowly that I put a siphon tube in it over night. I also notice that unless I'm on a steep slope, water remains in my hull in a level lower than my rear drain...I suppose it must be normal to have some water constantly in my bilge. Another question about drains.....is the fuel tank compartment sealed from the rest of the hull?....sorry about the late reply to all of your comments, I need to enable alerts in my control panel.......Just read the other comments....yes it does drain under the tank.....okay, a plug and pump it is!!

One suggestion. When you park your trailer, always crank the trailer jack down as far as it will go so that the bow is up and the entire boat hull drains towards the stern. That way there's no water (even condensation) left in your hull. And keep your hatches open to allow everything underdeck to airdry out.

you are definitely going to want to clear that blockage. You want the bilge to drain itself aft to the bilge pump quickly.

You can't get at the front end of that tube that runs under the gas tank but you can (blindly) reach the aft end. The trick is to "pull" the water and blockage vs. pushing it forward(only to block the hole again in time).

I have had luck sticking a finger in there and pulling it out quickly until she loosens up and comes a gushing'....

I've learned not to use that compartment as a fish box because draining it to the bilge is a disaster. I did have a pump in there for a while and used it as a livewell but now its just storage for a spare anchor, a wreck marker and a bucket of lead weights.
