Access panel above my as tank needs a little support. I pulled it up and to no surprise, it need more support boards. The few that it has have started to rot. Question.. is it a bi deal if I use pressure treated wood? I know it wont last as long, but if I check on it in a few years, whats the big deal? It would be better than it is now. It was good to now the tank was a new custom 2007 aluminum 54 gallon

PT board and aluminum do NOT go together. It is a HUGE no no to put pressure treated boards around aluminum due to the chemicals used to pressure treat boards.

mine came from the factory with pt 2x2 across the tank. wellcraft put rubber pads under the boards to seperate them from the tank

well.... that is good to know.. that is why we ask the experts! yes the boards has rubber pads so they do not touch tank. not sure what wood was used since it it old and brown

If your going to ck it from time to time just use regular 2x4. Other wise I would use some of that plastic board they sell, will last forever!

Personally for the minimal effort involved... Just glass regular wood to the bottom of the hatch.... $50 and 2-3 hours and you can look at it again in 15 years.

putting a piece of wood in and re-glassing seems like more work tan (one of my keys isn't working) adding wood supports. I don't mind lifting and inspecting periodically , but I would like to do it rigt so eiter way is fine. wat doesn't corrode aluminum? seems like sensitive material
