Fixing Rod Boxes

I did a search and could not find anything. My rod boxes are beat up, cracked and I would really like ot fix them. Can I use epoxy, fiberglass, paint to repair? Or is there some thing else I should do to make them strong and new looking again?

My boxes are not square the one advertised on ebay will not work for me. Thinking to just cover with star board or something not sure yet any ideas.

OK I saw the post regarding "pole box" I am use to calling them "rod boxes"

i'm going to remove mine and fix any of the cracks on the backside of the box with a fiberglass repair kit.i'll porbably just use a strong tape to close a crack then apply the fiberglass repair to it.i will probably use the glass clothe so it will be strong.then i'm just going to re-paint the interior of each box and the re-install the holders......i hope! :)

That was what I was going to do too. Also the the 2 boxes on back rail and the floor boxes are intact but cracked and brittle. So instead of making new I will reinforce with glass mat on back then fill sand paint the front.

I think you'll be happy w/the result...

mine were stepped on while getting in and out of the boat cracked busted etc. i took them out cleaned the backside of the rod holders, put the fronts back together with tape to hold the shape. scuffed up the back used fiberglass mat and resin and put the things back together. i thought for sure it would react with the plastic pvc that they are made out of but it didnt. dried in no time in the sun. used a dremel tool to v out any cracks in the front. filled with polyester mender and wet sanded. dropped them off at my friends body shop he sprayed them and they look imaculate. now the rest of the cockpit looks like crap !
