Fishing report NJ

Well last week sucked at Shrewsbury rocks, skunked.

Night at Rt 35 bridge Manasquan, skunked. Then to add insult to injury, tied up back at dock, 5 lb stripers crashing clouds of tiny bait between my motor and the dock. They were also behind Capt Pete's boat a couple slips down

Halloween afternoon sucked outside Manasquan Inlet from the beach out to 80ft, acres of bait,no fish...skunked.

Heading out Monday morning solo to look for stripers again. Wednesday heading to Shark River Reef with $40 in clam to CATCH Black Sea Bass.

Monday morning. Beautiful boat ride.
Snag&drop live bunker from Manasquan to Long Branch.

What's the limit on spiny dogfish???:bat:

Not a bluefish or bass in sight.

Oh wow that sucks. I have been told by quite a few people that the stripers are active throughout the marina at night. I went out Sunday most of the day and didn't get anything either. I talked to a few people that got a fish here and there but it's very sketchy. I hope it gets more consistent soon.

Shark River Reef - 28 BSB to 5 lbs:nice:, a bunch of monster porgies, a handful of big bluefish

sat morning 11/7- nothing but bait south of Manasquan.

Sun afternoon 11/8- more 10 to 16 lb bluefish than anyone could stand. No bass.
Sea laid down flat, beautiful day. Whale eating bunker in front of Manasquan Inlet

Going Monday morning, might have to run out for more seabass since I can't find a striper.

Went to Shark River Reef again, solo. Ocean was flat so I didn't have to anchor. Moved around marking more rock piles and wrecks and checking them out. Got 8 keeper seabass. Had a throwback cod. I think I'm done with bottom fishing for the season.

I heard Seaside Park was the place to be for striped bass today. Going to get out as much as possible thru Thanksgiving and hug the beach for stripers.

looks like a strong West and NW wind for the weekend. Great for hugging the beach for stripers. Schools of bunker tend to come tight to the beach in a West/NW wind.

Got a 40" fish today on a live bunker and a smaller one on a trolled spoon dropped at the boat. Off Lavalette.

Radio said it was great but we struggled. Saw a lot of fish trolled up be we sucked. SHould have stuck it out with the bunker but my brother has no patience.

Striper nuggets & pierogies for dinner...

I'll be back out in the morning.

Skunkboat, do you have a full enclosure and fueled up at Hoffman's around 4 today?
If so I may have cruised by on my way in and admired the v

Monday 11-16... Great day!

Went solo straight down to Lavalette. Found a giant school of bunker away from the fleet. Snagged 3 bunker and got them out on circle hooks, 2 down and one flat line, as I was snagging a 4th bait a rod went off. 33" fish in the box. then released another 31" fish. (limit is 1 bass 28"to 43" and 1 over 43")
As I was coming back on that drift Capt Pete trolled by...

Fished bunker the whole day and had a relaxing time drifting along.Released 5 fish to 36" and broke off or dropped another five. Did not get a 43"er.
Trollers said they were slaying them but I'd rather get the excitement of having a live bait eaten, coming tight on it, and fighting it from a drifting boat.

Saw Capt Pete flying north and took some video. He was far away and the GoPro is superwide angle so I can't pull a good closeup out of it.

I agree. nothing like live lining, anchored or drifting, no fun in trolling, but to each his/her own. :fam:

WELL DONE!!!!! :nice:
