What's the good or bad word on etec?

Looking at a new 150 etec for a good price. Know that the old johnson's were great, but curious about these new BRP 150's.
 
Good engines so far, haven't heard of many issues with the actual engines. Most failures have been linked to improper set-up on them by the installing dealer.
 
Apparently, just like with Lumber's ETEC, the set up is critical, maybe a little too much critical because I have heard of three others the past year or so that blew power heads in the first couple of months of operation. That just does not seem right that in the small circles I am in to hear that.
 
the 2.6's are solid, just let them spin dont lug them. also if you dont get a ext warr BUY ONE for as long as they let you!! i cant stress this enough.
 
Mac put a 150 etec on his and has been happy as Slinger w/his...I talked to a guide the other day...had one on his boat and said he would never own anything else...find a good, reputable dealer and get the best deal you can...:clap:
