As I recall, Reagan’s tax cots stimulated the economy with the result of increasing revenue. Given the hideous financial, cultural and geopolitical mess the last administration has put us in, I’m inclined to give this one quite a bit of latitude dealing with things. The majority in congress is razor thin, so whether opposition is honest or not (which we’ve seen to be criminally dishonest in the past), there’s opportunity at the midterms to impose massive gridlock. I personally hope Trump is given the opportunity to make deals, enforce the law and set policy that turns the needle on a much more rational and productive direction.
I’m saddened by the abjectly tribal beliefs and behavior of intelligent people, many of them my very longtime, dear friends. It’s a significant effort for me to try to be aware of and quash the tribal propensities that I was raised with, but it’s a worthwhile undertaking. I have strong views that honest, rational people can disagree with - those should be things that can be honestly discussed.
I think you are an honest guy and that you do your research. I would probably not be as comfortable with your sources as you are, but you’d probably feel the same about some of mine. I would respectfully ask if you have considered to what degree your opinions are affected by your natural/learned bias, as I’m trying to do.
