Skool, I thought you had better taste in motors. That Merc will do just fine for me. I am with Blue on this one.. What brand is the boat anyway it has some interesting lines.

oh i do have better taste no Black motors for me, I more than dislike mercs. I have a 1996 BlackMax Merc 150 in my way in my shop, It runs but it's still as merc / anchor.

I think all looks great!! I have a problem with the Black motor also, O well.

But my real issue is that motor & bracket looks low?? anything on a bracket IMO should be a 30" leg, these motors are way to low in the water and you need the 30 shaft to get them out.

I have a nice 4 stroke on my 23 Sea Ox and its to low also! The V20 I put bracket on for a 25 and it was to low.

Other wise Lumber better watch out cause this thing is going to be a thing of beauty!

I do agree with the 30" leg with a single on a big boat. Big waste of time to argue about what brand motor is better. I am happy with my Mercs, they are/were made in the USA and they haul a$$. I try to stay with US made goods whenever possible. Too many people love the Yamaha to ignore their prowess but it feels good to do the wrong thing sometimes.

good morning, my frinds center console started life as a 1973 formula cabin cruiser! the lines you saw at the stainless rub rail was installed like the old school BUDDY DAVIS. the boat had it first sea trial (in lake norman) last sunday. she ran out at 45mph. she came up on plane nicely i am going by the shop this sat and will get more pictures. t-top is on he only has to install am-fm cd and some hatch covers.

Yeah, get more pics. I love the Carolina style boats. After I finish my Phantom 16 build I may tackle a Carolina boat.
