i tried for so many years to get one of those 289hp they were solid cam too back in those times it was hard to ship things over and no ebay i hope u have some pics to share with usI guess everyone's had a special car during their life. Mine was a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2Blue with the white pony interior with the rally pac on the steering column. 289 high performance engine with the high rise intake manifold and the stock from the factory 4 barrel. God I loved that car. The engine finally blew @ 115,000 miles and I sold it for $1200 in 1978 with the blown engine. Zero rust on the floorboards... the PO had it undercoated from day one. I miss it to this day.
I still have the Rally Pac... took it off before I sold the car... Someday I hope to mount it on another 66 stang.![]()
nice carmy 1st car was bought in 1977 after i graduated from H.S. and managed to save up some money(far easier back then than today!!!).it was a 1968 camaro rs.copper colored body w/ a black vinyl top,all white interior, cragers all around.it had a 327 w/auto for power.the only thing it needed done when i bought it was the hide-away headlights fixed.i paid $800 for it.8 months after i had it a friend rear-ended it while it was sitting in front of my parents house and totaled it.i thought about beating him over it but self control got the better of me.i hate to look them up on e-bay because of their value now! here is a pic of exactly what it looked like ecpect for this ones ss emblem on the grill.

well alot of us r in your situation i would look for a cheap project car and slowly build it buy parts as u can aford it it may take 10 years to build but at least u have something to play withGuess I an old man here. When I was in High school muscle cars were out of flavor and easy to buy. I bought my friend's Dad's 1970 442 and immediately wrecked it. Bought a 73 Chevelle SS with a small block and couldn't understand why it was so slow. We had GTO's,Camaros, mustangs, Impalas, etc. that we treated like crap. No one knew or could have predicted that these cars would later become so valuable. Cripes, I remember one drunkin night offroading in a big block Impala convertible laughing as we bounced what wasn't all that rough of a car off nearby trees. Gas crisis quickly had me in European cars and owned a string of em. Lived in Mexico and got the VW fever (bug) , returned to the States and immediately sold off all my British cars. I had recently restored a cherry 68 Austin Healy BJ8 3000 and thought I was D. Trump cause I got 16k for it and bought my first house in 1986, ugh. Sold Porches for a time and built a lightweight non sunroof 73 911 with a weber carbed 3.0 liter not a drag car but with the lsd and different ring &p certainly embarrased a lot of stop light jockeys. Life happened, mortgages, kids, jobs etc. and the cars got sold or parked. Happy for right now just to fly a boat every now and then nothing like twin whatevers screaming behind you and all your cares disappearing with the wake. With three kids to put through college looks like the closest muscle car experience for me for some time will be driving the family suburban with a 6.0.

well by a street car i mean one that is registed and can pass a roadworthy check sorry was and is are 2 different things and locking the diff wouldnt suit my driving in mc donalds car park with the whole family in the car lolaussie, that was a street car. just a bit faster than most. close that differential and get another 1/2 second out of that old ford.
