I'm looking at a 1992 v20 1992 175 yamaha 2006 trailer.It still had the winter cover on it. Had to uncover engine.I changed the gas filter and tried it. It started rite up.Compression is about 115 and only varries few numbers. Need some input what can you tell me THANKS:happy:Owner said he don't have the time to demo it?????

Possibly you could offer to leave a deposit while you go wet test it...and have a qualified Yam tech check it out...


...but on the other hand, if the price is right and all looks good (I like the fact that she fired right up) and you're not finding soft spots in the floor and weak transom (w/motor tilted up, apply your body-weight to the foot of the motor and LISTEN...no noise=GOOD...snap,crackle pop=transom work needed)..sometimes ya just gotta GO FOR IT!!...:party:
 
sounds like a nice rig. run a comp check, then tear down the carbs just to be on the safe side and have fun. you would probably want to check out the normal yam issues, depends of the year though, shift shaft rusting, trim motor rusted, block corosion, corrosion in the heads. get him to sign a sales agreement saying that you have a day to renag on the deal then water test it yourself. just an idea.
