Buctails

I have been tying my own rigs and snelling hooks for a few years. Recently I started painting and tying my own bucktails.

Thanks, I used Vinyl Jig paint on the ones pictured. I just did a second batch using the powder paint and some Spro style jigheads. The powder paint is the way to go. I heated the jigs at 350 in an old toaster oven that I dedicated to jig baking. I then dipped them in the powder paint and then back in the oven for 15 minutes to bake the finish. The whole powder paint process is pretty simple. This summer I will see which holds up better the powder paint or vinyl.

Whale, I buy the jigs from www.TJstackle.com. They also carry powder paint, and other supplies. If your interested in pouring your own the mold is made by Do-it Molds, its called the Ultra Minnow.

could you make them with a circle hooK. florida has this rule that any time you are using live bait, it has to be on a circle hook. i like to fish for flounder with a bull minnow on a grub head. no longer legal unless head has a circle hook.....

Are you pouring these or purchasing them poured but not finished? If you don't have any molds I'll pour the bucktails send them to you for painting and skirting and you can keep half and mail me half. Your end is more work but the hooks and lead would make up the difference because of their cost.
