bow rail ?

I bought a 77 v-20 back in March and spent the whole summer restoring it . I rebuilt the 170 merc 4 cyl, gimble, and alpha one outdrive. While pulling the engine out I found out the transom was rotten .So, while I had the engine out I cut out the floor and transom and replaced the transom ,stringers, transom cap and floor. It was a hell of a job but I got through it . It turned out great. Ive gotten it all back together and it runs great. Now all I need is a bow rail and a couple of new chocks. Anybody got a good used one or know where I can pick one up . thanks Carroll

CB's right ;) ... a railless bow can be a good thing ... makes for a nice, clean look 8) ... several pics of no-rail Vs have shown up ....that's an option...

Your question, though was where to get one and that's gonna be a little tougher ...suggestion...repair all the screw-holes (you'll wanna do that anyway) and keep lookin' for a suitable replacement...the reason I suggest this is cause I think it's gonna be a while B4 ya find one ... and after ya live w/ out a rail for a while, ya might just come to like it ;) :D ...

And HEY!!... where are all the pictures of all that great soundin' work ya did?? ... if ya got some, see "How To" for how to post 'em here :) ...

thanks guys, Ilike the looks of mine without a bowrail too. I just thought it would be nice to have one when Im docking and when the wife and kids want to lay out on the bow and catch some rays . Hey macojoe ,my v20 looks almost identical to yours . Im working on a trailer now.The one that came with mine was in really bad shape. the original trailer has two sets of wobble rollers.and the one I bought to replace it came out from under a 26ft bayliner. It has bunk boards and keel rollers.Whats your opinions on bunk board style trailers vs wobble roller trailers?I can reuse the rollers on my new trailer .Oh, Ill get some pictures on here as soon as I catch a pretty day to take some . I got lots of pics of the transom work too.

He says he has lots and lots of pics of transom work. I like this guy already.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I like the bow rail myself for when the kids sit out on the bow dalphin watching.

on bunks vs rollers you will get both sides here i have both and personally i'd take a bunk trailer over a roller anyday.

Bunks are the only and easiest way to load

My boat is a 1975 and there is a 1974 here also, I think Reels.

Like Skools said you will have both here!!

I like rollers here in Mass were I live, I have a lot of steep ramps, and rollers make it real easy to crank up!!

Now if you are in a area thats has flat ramps, then you can float on & off real easy, then bunks are better.

Also bunks will support the bottom of the boat much better. But I have always had a roller and it supports just fine.

we bunk boys don't float on them lol we drive on them. drive till you hit the wench plate stop latch and go easy as cutting hot butter with a knife

lol wow is that why you have yours hanging on the trailer hitch wow MJ bet that hurt. LOL yeah just carry a bigger gun to the ramp next time.

hey fellas, man ive been busy. those pictures are coming ,gotta get my daughter to help me with em. my buddy has an 86 v20 and he scrubed the gelcoat off the bow keel loading it up the other day .i went by today and sanded it down and painted on some more gel for him . hes going out striper fishing tommorow morning. sure wish i could go but im working 11-7 this week .we live in gates co. I might can find you a bowrail, I might just know where one is. See guys I mentioned last week I had found that walk thru for Randleman and while I was hunting I found a old V-20 cuddy that has some still good parts.

Shipping is going to be a bit$h!!

Before this thread I took mine off and cut in half, I gave to CB, he is going to make it fit on his tin boat.
