bimini enclosure

;DHello all, another newbie here. I have an 84 V20 Cuddy in SE Mass. I've been looking for a bimini enclosure to keep the water off of me on those wet days. Anyone know where I can find one. Thanks.

Welcome, Mario.

You can find one in my gallery, but it's not 4 sale. It was original equipment from my boats original/former owner.

Sailboat will sell you his new enclosure for $19,900. ;) He'll also throw in a V21 and a 4-stroke 150 hp Yamaha and some other cool toys. ;D

Seriously, check out Sailboats 4sale post - maybe he can put you in touch with his canvas guy.

marioc11, welcome to the site. Good to have another MA member here. Where abouts are you located. I know of a good canvas guy here in Scituate that has done some work for me in the past for reasonable $$

SeaKindly,
Thanks for the info, however the wife would not be happy with a new toy. I'm still paying off the Fatboy.

Chumbucket,
I'm in Taunton. I'm familiar with the Scituate boat ramp. Any ballpark figure on the cost? <$1000?

Thanks.

what the heck are you doing??? You Taunton boys are all the same!!! ::)

I grew up in Taunton!! I moved to the Cape 8 years ago. grew up on 138 rear the park.

Welcome aboard I think ???

marioc11, He's on the Driftway in Scituate at James Landing Marina. Atlantic Coast Canvas. He has a small shop upstairs in the Scituate Yacht Co. Building. I could try to get an idea from him. I'll be over that way tomorrow so I'll stop in and chat with him a bit. He usually looks for some off season work and may be able to do a bit better on the price.
I'll get back to you.

chums

i talked to the guy at Atlantic today. He gave me a rough price of $3200. A little steep for me right now.

He took my name and # in case someone shows up with one for sale.
Thanks again.

Yeah, I just talked to him again myself and thought that was a bit steep as well. Don't know what else to suggest. In my gallery pics, near the end are some shots of my buddy's '83 cuddy with an enclosure he made himself. He started with a standard Bimini top and purchased the Eisenglass PVC from Saftler's Fabric Shop here in Whitman, MA. Matter of fact, he bought all the supplies from them including snaps, edging material, they even let him borrow the snap tool to install them with. All said and done, he spent around $550 including the Bimini with supports.
The only thing I would have done a bit different would have been to use a Bimini just a bit shorter in length. You have to be aware of it when casting.

Hey CB ... just curious ... is your buddy computerphobic? How come he doesn't log on and say hello?

Well, I'm not sure that he's computerphobic. He's definately phobic in many other ways. I've repeatedly tried to get him onto several sites. He just doesn't go online very often.

I talked to another guy today out of Taunton/Somerset. He quoted $2100 for SS frame, front, side, and rear curtains.

Things are looking up. I've got one more guy to call in Raynham.

things are gettting much better....

The guy in Raynham gave me a price of around $1200 for SS frame, 30 weight glass, sunbrella fabric, zip pockets, etc...

I have to wait until March though. He works out of his house, does 1 boat at a time, and is booked through most of next season.

decisions, decisions....

Good things come to those who wait, and sometimes they pass them by.  If the guy for $1200 does good work it would be worth the wait.  Just another opinion.  Bill Mc ;D

Well I placed my deposit with the guy in Raynham, MA after checking out his place. He works out of his garage and restores MG's and Triumphs, also in his spare time. I saw a bunch of pix of his work. He only uses top materials and bends the frames himself.

The total enclosure with 7/8" dia SS frame, sunbrella fabric, and 30 gauge glass will be under $1500. Unfortunately, I'm #7 on his to do list. Well worth the wait though to save $600, and he's only about 6 miles away.

If anyone else is interested I can send you his info.

I no that place. Imhad a friend that had a top for his car put on.
I went there for some windows for the bimi I had before but I was a poor man back the and he wantee like $300 so I said forget it!!
I made them my self, and They were still with the boat when I sold it 4 years later.
Thats Johns Auto top

Close, his name is John, but it isn't John's
Auto Top. I know that place. This guy's a med tech by profession, but does this out of his garage at home. He's <5 minutes from 495.

Good weather is finally here for some fishin....
