This is everything a guy could ask for:
1) Cheap! 3 - 5 lb bird is under $5 (around here) and will feed 3-4 people
2) Easy - 5 minute prep time, then let the oven do the hard work.
3) Delicious! Everyone will wonder how you did it!
Directions:
1) Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is heating unpackage your bird and rinse it really good with cool water.
2) Remove the inards....liver and gizzard or whateveryoucallit.
3) Rub your bird down with olive oil.
4) Season the bird inside and out. Old Bay seasoning is awesome or you can use whatever you like. No matter what you use, add some salt and fresh cracked black pepper too. Rub the seasoning into the skin with your fingers.
5) Now get yourself one of those 2 piece baking pans that lets the grease drip down away from whatever you are cooking and put your seasoned bird in the center breast side down and place it in the 350 degree oven. Note: line the bottom of your drip pan with tinfoil to avoid nasty cleanup!
6) Bake that bird about 1.5 hrs (3lb) or 2 hours (5lb) or until internal temp reaches 170 degrees and juices run clear (not pink). You don't need to flip it.
Last Sunday evening I cooked up a 5lb bird and put it in the fridge for Monday dinner. I re-heated it by putting back in the oven for a little while at 225 degrees. We ate that whole mother ******!
