Just curious if anyone else on here had a Yamaha F150 and what they get from it????? Just got mine on and seems to push the 20 like a champ......

This is what I am currently getting from mine with a 14.25 x 17SS and no tab
Sorry for weird format, just refuses to cooperate with me!!!!!!
RPM MPH GPH MPG
1000 4 ------ -------
1500 7 1.6-1.1 4.7-5
2000 8 2.3 4
2500 9 3.4 2.6
3000 11 5.1 2.2
3500 16 5.5 3
4000 28 7.2 3.9
4500 32 9 4
5000 34 10 3.3
5500 38 15 2.8

I've got no real comparison for you (being I'm a 2 smoker) but this what I get with mine with a 14x19ss prop. Yours is much better.

Idle 800rpm - 4mph - 3.38mpg
3900rpm - 30mph - 2.71mpg
4200rpm - 37mph - 2.63mpg
WOT 5100rpm - 44mph - 2.32mpg

I really need to put the other prop I've got on it to bring the rpm's up. Just too lazy.

Thanks ssired!
I've got a 14.8x17al in the cuddy for a spare and just too sorry to try the other one I've got.

Yamaha 150 4 stroke

Took ours out for first time on Saturday. I agree it does push it great. We got 46 mph (gps) without stretching the rpms out. I will play around with it a bit more this weekend.

if i read this right,
at 37 mph, tsu is getting 2.63 mpg
at 38 mph, ssir is getting 2.8 mpg

Phatdaddy, I'm with you on this one I think. I don't see much difference between the 2. But to me it looks like tus is doing better overall. Using their figures:

tsu gets 44 MPH @ 5100 RPM using 2.32 MPG
ssir gets 42 MPH @ 6000 RPM using 2.4 MPG

So Tsubaki is going 2 mph faster while using less gas and less rpm (wear and tear) on his engine.

Ssiredfish, if it were me I'd put a 19P on your engine and give it another shot. I think you would definately benefit from the added pitch. :head:

It would be a better comparison if tsub were running the 17 pitch prop but looks to me like ssir is getting around 4 mpg at cruise while tsub is getting around about 2.7 mpg.

I was about to comment on this one. The overall fuel burn for the 4-stroke is much better. Ssired fish, congratulations on the new power. TSU, that is lazy on the RPM, the 17 may help your mileage. Both sound great to me. If I were to cruise around the best I see is 2.5MPG. Most of the time the 250 2-stroke averages ABOUT 2MPG all around. Less is possible. The price to pay for cheap HP.

5100 is a tad low, but not bad for a 60 degree EAGLE looper. They don't like to turn more than 5500-5600 as they are built pretty heavy inside for commercial type useage. 4 strokes do best at lower RPM's, at WOT a 4 stroke isn't that much better on fuel burn than a 2 stroke, maybe 10% better. At idle though they can be up to 400% better.

My mech. wanted me to even try a 15x19 but that particular 150hp states it needs to ride at 5800-6000 WOT which is what I ended up with. I was back and forth and got about 10 people(companies) to prop it out and 14.25 x 17 came up from four of em. I love the looks of the top end capabilities with this combo(boat/eng/prop) but I MOSTLY fish offshore and SELDOM get to ride WOT. This configuration will best suit what I believe my needs are which are an efficient, above-average cruise speed while maximizing range.

Oh, did I mention I had an authentic seatrail?????? NE 15-20kts. 1.5ft in the river!!!!! I got gas to burn, what can I say?????

ALMOST FINISHED(yeah, yeah, I know, its never finished)!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM PICS UP!!!!!!!!

Your numbers are VERY CLOSE to mine when I originally put the 150 Honda on back in '04...topped out at 42 @ 6000 and cruised at 29 @ 4000...that w/a 15 1/4" x 17 Power Tec

Reel - I'm considering a new Honda 150 on a '74 cuddy. What kind of fuel economy do you get out of your 150?

Thanks.
