i was thinking of adding several tackle storage hatches to my boat that hold the plastic plano boxes ..

the prices on these things are outrageous!!!!

should be easily bilt with starboard .. just a box with a mounting flange with some dividers for the plano boxes ....

any ideas? searched the web, did not find any pics or plans.

thanks

some one on here did, I just can't remeber who it was. Whats the best thing to glue starboard together with? BTW, anyone experimented with PVC boards instead of starboard, I know its a lot cheaper. Its available at local lumber yards, but usually only available in narrow widths(4"-18"), with long lenghts(18'). One yard here local has two 4X8 sheets of 1", he said he wants $100 per sheet on these two sheets only(apparently a special order that wasn't picked up). Lumberslinger, you ever messed with this stuff?

MJ for one, built a tackle cabinet.
I've been trying to find PVC sheets. Found a guy at the flea market that "had all I would ever need". Now he's nowhere to be found.

THANKS spare, when I get back interested in needing some I'll do that. The stuff I found was 1/4" thick and came in blue, white, red or yellow.
Last year my father was going to redo his pontoon boat and I suggested the PVC for the side panels instead of plywood and carpet, well he has since sold the boat.

Glue does not stick to starboard. You have to use a plastic welder, or stainless screws as MJ did. Reel also built some housings for his gas tanks. Billy Mac

CB and I made one for my V20, its the best single thing I ever did!! As Mac said, you can not use anything to glue it. Well there is a way but the process is crazy!! Screws are the way to go.
We use 3/8 Starboard, I bought a hole sheet and made gas tank covers, and this was made out of left over.
