Anybody Towing with an Envoy or Trailblazer

I have to sell my F-150 and buy an SUV because I need more seating. I really like the GMC Envoy and it looks like it has enough capacity to tow the V-20, Wondering if any of you guys hve experience with these trucks?

I have a buddy with the TrailBlazer towing a 22 Seahunt. They love the truck. It's what I'd buy if I needed a midsize SUV today.

Just got rid of my Envoy -(lease was up). I liked it alot and it seemed to be a solid rig. Only towed the V20 a couple times (I rack it now). I was suprised how heavy the boat felt and the gas milage dropped to almost half. Don't know if that's par for the course or not.

I had no problems with it - got a new rig for significantly less $ and better warranty now. I think you'll like it.

I use to tow with a 1994 Blazer with the 4.3 Vortec, towed fine!
But I had 4x4 and it helped a lot on the ramps!! If not 4x4 might be tuff on the ramps?
Had to hold break give a lot of gas and then let go, as not to roll back.

Not the beast choice of a vehicle, but very doable!!

More then a few here use Jeeps and they are doing ok?

I have a 2002 Envoy. It tows it fine, but I only take short trips (75 miles). If the trailer is adjusted properly, it is fine. The only issue I have with the Envoy (and my old Tahoe) is getting the thing to stop. If you have brakes on the trailer you will be in great shape. I am running a dual axle but with no brakes. I think the Envoy is rated for 6000 lbs.

I just completed putting 130 people through SUV driver training. We ran many different SUV's and all had good points and bad.

We had one Envoy come through, I was the least impressed with it than any other as far as power. It had the 5 cylinder engine and it would not go when you wanted to go. Didn't stop great either.

But we were doing driving that normal folks don't do. The Tahoe's with the 5.3 L engine were the best for power out of what we used.

My wife has a Honda Pilot. It seats 7, has leather and a DVD system with 7 speakers, and it pulles the V-20 fine. (Pulled it 400 miles last weekend) Not like a Tahoe or Suburban, but it does good.

I had no problems towing with a 5.2l Duango (until my wife wrecked it). Had a towing capacity of 5900 lbs. Worked great while it lasted.

We had the top of the line Trailblazer LTZ. Single worst investment we made in our lives, electrical problems all the time. Windows that would fall down inside the door. When you needed the windshield wipers the motor would die or an actuator or some other component(three times diffrent pieces went wrong) When we needed to engage the four wheel drive, twice for road situation in winter would not engage. Problem with electronic activator and the second time some servo motor in it, they tried to say it was not a covered item on the warranty. We refused to pay them and I started raising hell in the dealership waving the bill in front of the customers in there talking loudly about how they are screwing us. Bill was paid for by them. We sold the truck for a big loss just to get rid of it.
We bought a Honda for her. The service has been phenominal, twice we had some not their fault with something wrong on it and dropped it off without a appt. and both times they spent time pulling something apart to help us out and called us up to pick up and no charge. Warranty items are not even discussed, just repaired. Of wich there have been only minor items not vital to the war effort.
That is why I don't buy GM anymore, three vehicles and three headaches, bulls!t problems and piss poor quality control. And three different dealers and all three smile at you while sticking it where the sun don't shine.

There, its off my chest and in answer to your question, IMHO do not buy one.

my dad bought a new one worst car he ever owned in the winter your feet froze and those 4.3 crap motors are prone to fuel injection issues they all will need a spider assembly and they run $1000 to fix min. he kept 2 yrs traded it in once it was kind of running good enough for a new Jeep Cherokee
