Another trim tab question

I'm seriously considering installing trim tabs on my 22.6 walk around . My question is about electric trim tabs. It seems to me that the Electric tabs are more suited Or intended for trailered boats, is saltwater marine growth more of an issue with the electric tabs as opposed to the hydrolic tabs? I dock my boat in salt water.. what do you guys think

Ive never replaced a Bennett tab actuator that wasn't damaged from impact(fork lifts usually). Most issues with Bennett tabs are related to where the reservoir is mounted, keep it in a dry place and you wont have any issues. I replace a lot of Lenco actuators, switches, and black boxes($$$$). However Lenco tabs have some really nice options, position indicator, auto retract, the ability to put one tab down while raising the other. Bennett offers solutions to this options, but they get expensive and can give more issues. personally, Id install Bennetts, use a circuit breaker rather than a fuse, mount the reservoir in a good location, and only add options you deem necessary

I've had both, and actually liked the electric tabs more simply for the instant response to changes. With hydraulic tabs you have to wait for the pump to build pressure for the tab to move, and there was always a brief delay in response to the switch. My lenco's gave me no trouble what so ever, but I have replaced several bennett trim tab switches at $70 a pop, and a $300 pump(but in all fairness, it died because water got in it when the boat sank). I've had retractors on both styles, so that's not an issue. That said, most all of them are good for the most part if taken care of.
