Step, Sorry, I should've mentioned the year, but they are still around. The REGS. suck, 2 fish @12", April 1 - May 30, that's why no one fishes for them here any longer, only the die hards still do. Everyone feels it cost way too much money for, the blood worms, mussels and chum just for 2 fish, the expense goes for the head boats also, that's why they don't even fish for them any longer. Me, I never bought chum, just 2 dozen bloods, a 2lb bag of mussels from ShopRite and a can of corn. I would cook the mussels just until they started to get hard, put them in a jar with yellow food color, save the shells for chum with the corn. The price varies for the bloods, from $17 a dozen for regular size, which we all know are really small and $30 for the jumbo's. When I was young, I never bought them, I would go to the Canarise Flats at low tide and dig my own, today it's against the law. If I wasn't handicapped and still had my boat, I'd be right in my old Flounder grounds, pounding away at that bottom. Those fish were really nice, 3 lbs and so were the ones we threw back. If any one fishes Jamaica Bay and knows where the Raunt Channel is, start right at the beginning, right off Floyd Bennett field, if it's a good day, no wind, or tide, drift. Sorry for the book, but I loved my Flounder fishing. Oh it's Winter Flounder, they have no teeth.
