In the middle of restoring a 1988 V20 center console...my partner just pointed out that there is no coast guard certification/occupancy plate on the boat...nor can we even determine where there would have been one if it had fallen off!

Anyone have any ideas on...

Where it should have be located on a 1988?
What is the process for getting another one, bug Wellcraft or work out the details with the ODNR?

We have yet to title this out of state boat in our name so I can only assume someone may want to inspect it, correct? (I know this is very different from state to state).

Somewhere on this site, someone found a site that makes new data stickers for the boat. I will try to find it when I get home tonight.

Maybe, maybe not. I get the USCGAuxillary to inspect my vessel all the time and they have never asked to see the plate. The HIN (Hull Identification Number) located at the aft starboard corner on the outside of the hull is what everyone goes by with respect to title work.

I know it will vary from state to state as you stated, someone else will chime in based on where your at perhaps.

Here's a photo of what someone found on the site a long time ago...Mine is an 87" cuddy model and was right on the money.

I got no stinking badges!!!! great did you see the one with chris rock on driving be polite!!!its in the screen after no badges plays.

OK, CAM got me looking and I found several websites that will reproduce them for $20 or so...not bad if they will hold up. I got a buddy who would make something indestructible but the layout time could be a pain.

So we can make our own if we got the specs and CAMs photo helps. Only thing I need to change is the 1988 and newer were rated for 225HP.

Here is a link for a supplier in case anyone else finds this thread: http://garzonstudio.com/boat/capacity-decal.html

CAM, thanks for posting that photo!

I should add for those posting their experience/opinion...where I live (Ohio/Lake Erie) if you get boarded the will look for this plate...they don't mess around in my parts!
