A sobering read

http://www.kitco.com/ind/Dougherty/jan222010.html

I know politics threads can turn ugly, but this just shows how badly BOTH sides have mismanaged our government and why they ALL need to be kicked out.

As to my feelings about the people in Washington that have deliberately caused this mess I'll simply say... :cen:... Some things are better left unsaid.

I've been shouting from the rooftops for years...my words fall on deaf ears. So I've stopped shouting and started preparing. Some of the things I've done is started buying things so my family can have a chance at survival. Gold, seeds, land, food, tools, medicines and weapons are all on my shopping list. Does that make me a kook? Perhaps some people might think so. I really don't care about them. To my way of thinking, only a fool stays in a burning building.

Sorry for the long post.

Destroyer. You one of them Tea Baggers?
It seems to be coming to a boil PDQ. I have not prepared for the worst. Ferm's link is scary, crazy.
"When the government gets big enough to give you everything you want, the government will be big enough to take everything you have" Thomas Jefferson.
I think the liberals have their eye on the prize and cannot help anyone but themselves. The Tea Baggers speak to me but I don't have any time off to go to a rally. I am poor so I have less in common with those representing me than I do the garbage man. But I vote.
Because the media is so liberal they portray some conservatives as kooky. But I would rather be labelled a kook and capable of handling the survival and well being of my family than to be normal and underprepared. Since the government does not produce anything (besides entire generations of people who are dependent on government) any increase in spending means they have to steal it from someone else first.
If you wish to see your blood boil check out Bill Maher on HBO. It will give you a glimpse at how the Hollywood Liberals view the Tea Baggers and the Republicans. Last week he made reference to people that have a big boat as being the problem. I kid you knot. The pot smoking hippie millionaire thinks the only way to a balanced budget is to gut the military and stop America from occupying nations that are not at war as we spend more on our military than the next 6 countries combined. Methinks he may need a refresher on the Constitutuion.

BTW- I loved your threads on Permission to Board and Old Glory.
I found my flag and got it ready for the next outing. Shame on me for stowing it away in the first place.

Piss off a liberal- Work Hard, Play Hard, Take Care of Your Own Business and be Happy.

Ridgerunner, you honor me sir. It is I that should be thanking you and everyone here for the opportunity to be a part of this group.

I'm not really a tea bagger... I like coffee and beer.

To anyone that does not understand where I stand, I have 4 priorities in my life. God, Country, Family and Fishing. In that order. Life has taught me that: You cannot have a Country without God. You cannot have a Family without a Country, and you cannot go Fishing without your wife's permission. :head:

I love all 4 of the previously mentioned items.

I like ice cream. I tend to be conservative in my views. I'm an independant. Since I only take what I'll eat and then practice catch and release I guess I'm a conservationist. I don't believe in global warming. I do believe in the Constitution. I like ice cream. I will fight any man or any group of men that tries to take away my God given freedoms, to the last drop of my blood. I believe in peace through strength. I like pumpkin pie (with ice cream on it).

Yep..... that about says it all.

Oh....

Bill Mayer disgusts me. He's the biggest waste of human skin that I can think of.

This is what I've been sayin for a long time now...our government has turned into a big charade controlled from behind the scenes...

The TEA Party was about to speak to me as well, til they trotted out Sarah Palin...they need to find there own voice...NOT HERS...

The Tea Party has their own voice, has had since day one. It is called the American people, they are fed up and want to finally have representation in our government. They are the tax payers, the soldiers, the people who have carried the burden in this nation for hundreds of years while the Progressives have taken what they made and distributed it to whoever they need to keep down and use as a voting block.
Just like they are getting ready to do with the massive illegal alien block of votes so they can keep themselves in power for decades to come.
Sara Palin like it or not Ozzie is a charming and charasmatic woman who started as a one of us and even while in government stayed one of us. She helps to bring more people into the fold. Which is why she is there and often asked to be there by many hundreds of thousands of Tea Party people who love her.
There are people in every group that I may not care for myself, she is about the least offensive big name politician I can think of. I don't want to see her run for national office but do enjoy her personality and spirit. And she has that spirit in spite of how she was villified by what used to be journalists in this country.
She also reminds me a lot of women I have known all my life, family, neighbors, teachers, nurses, doctors etc. She is strong, she has roots, she was raised to believe in America, and I am willing to bet she would lay her life down for it if needed. She believes in our Constitution.
That is a h@ll of lot better than what we have in government today, I would take her anyday over that low life side mouth talking Lyndsey Graham or a dozen others in the Republican party who tell you they are conservative or believe in the Constitution but will do just the opposite when they are in office.
JMHO

Palin is not going to lead me either Reel but she has the nod over Pelosi or Reid. I really don't know who to follow. That seems to be my problem as a conservative registered democrat with independent ideas. Voting the bunch we have out on their ear is a start.
Constitutional Democracy looks great on paper but how would those who are dependent on the current system survive? The system has been building in enourmity since FDR was president.
We are heading for the European Model of Democracy fast. 25% Income tax on the backbone, the working class. ie. a Flightless Albatross.
I too like ice cream, beer and sweet tea.

I know it's Arianna Huffington,
but the article is a good one and I think it fits in here.

Parishht...Great article. There are a few things I don't agree with, (comments about unnessary wars, etc.) but facts are facts. His comments about the financial sector are right on target. Thank you for posting it.

Willy... What can I say? I am in AWE at your ability to put into words exactly what and how I feel about Palin.
Truthfully, I'm simply to stupid to string my jumbled thoughts together into such a beautiful article. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I will say this about Palin though.. She is the most feared person on the liberals hit list. When V.P. Biden goes to speak they have a hard time finding 500 people to come and listen to him. When Gov. Palin goes to speak, they have a hard time finding a place large enough to hold the 5000-10,000 people she normally draws!! That lesson hasn't been lost on the progressives... so they have villified her, her family, her friends, anyone the comes close to her. They make up lies about her, they try to trap her with really stupid, meaningless questions.. They are doing anything and everything they can to make her look bad. She is the most carismatic person in the Republican Party right now, and they fear her like no one else. To anyone that would disagree with me on this, I simply say listen to her.... NOT to what the left wing progressive press is making up or trying to spin about her.. listen to HER..to what SHE says... then make up your own mind.

Do I like everything she says? No, of course not. Nor do I like everything that anyone else says either.. But I agree with her much more than I disagree with her.

She is not the voice of the Tea Party. The hard working, blue collar American People are the voice of the Tea Party. And our voices WILL be heard in the upcoming elections..

Ferm, you hanging out on Kitco?

Remember that ignorance is bliss and once you gain knowledge of the way things are and have been, you can't unlearn it. Once you go down the rabbitt hole you can't come back out.

THEY are/have installed an oligarchy in this country. This has been done over at least the last one hundred years, a lot longer actually. The whole left/right paradigm is a two demensional puppet show for the sheep. Both parties have sold us down the river.

While I admire their spirit, the tea party has been taken over by the neocon republicans. This was done in my opinion to piggyback off the movement and give the republicans less of a Dick Cheney/Karl Rove/Halliburton image and make them more the currently likable populists. More importantly it was done to crush the possibility of an actually viable 3rd party that would upset the global agenda that the powers that be have planned for us.

I'll shut up now before a friendly Homeland Insecurity officer cross references my ISP address.

Vote for Ron Paul!

Molon Labe!

Just one thing to keep in the back of everyone's mind.
Stewart Dougherty is a shill for Kitco ...sellers of gold and other precious metals. He's employed by them.

I don't care how "prestigeous" Mr. Dougherty's credentials are. I looked at his "bio" and see that it is on Kitco's site. I look at what he "does" and he appears to be just another guy that can't get a regular job so hanges out a shingle and calls himself a "consultant." [I have seen lots of consultants job titles lately.] I am not impressed about MCI and in any case that was a decade ago. How has he been feeding himself lately?

You were able to read him because Bart Kitner [the man that owns Kitco] paid for you to be able to do so. Bart is a Canadian, as is his company. Their US address is a "storefront" up near the Canadian border. Much of his "holdings" are on paper in places like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Perth. If something were to go wrong, the legal fees on that trail would not be trivial. At least one of his firms is incorporated in British Columbia, CA - Very long noted as a haven for very sketchy businesses. [My father purchased shares in a mining company there that turned out to be a non producing sand pit.]

Bart is in the business of making a profit from selling metal. He in turn is also one of the reasons that Google is nicely profitable. He pays very well for "placement" in their search engine - multiple times over in fact. That's a lot of overhead and gold is not normally a high margin item. How does he make a profit? The answer is that he uses marketing - Mr. Dougherty - to sell product. But there is also something subtle here. He sells undivided interest in a pool of metal. You never get to hold that in your hand. It only exists as paper/pixels and is no more secure than any other financial [Wall Street] instrument. If you're going to buy gold, MAKE SURE you get the gold, NOT just paper.

I'm NOT saying that Mr. Dougherty is wrong in his message or in his facts..far from it. But just keep in mind that it appears that he's getting paid to say it... and to me, when someone gets paid to say something, it makes me look twice at the message.

Destroyer Wrote "You never get to hold that(gold) in your hand."

That's funny, I want to sell my Whaler that way. Someone could send some money and I will send them the title, insurance and a picture of me using it.
