A Memorial Day thank you

Memorial Day is coming up so I thought this would be a good time to wish everyone a great weekend and thank all of you who have served but in particular those, and the families of those, who have paid the ultimate price. I'm sure you will agree there is no way we can thank those who paid the ultimate price enough for the freedom we enjoy, but perhaps this will come close.

A Prayer for Memorial Day

Almighty God,
As we remember those who have made the ultimate
sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think
of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son,
our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen and
women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering
grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection.
We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for
your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray
your peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives.
May the members of our armed forces be supplied with
courage to face each day and may they trust in the
Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our
military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.

not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
